Support Groups
Why we understand vision lossThe staff and volunteers working with our Senior Blind Services program understand vision loss, because many of us live with some type of impairment. The program’s staff and volunteers want to share their knowledge with people who are dealing with vision problems. Their personal and professional experiences can help you or your loved one manage vision challenges in a positive way.
How can I read the newspaper, library books, or the Bible?Free services are available to help you read printed materials using a different format. Just ask us about the options.
How can I deal with feelings of depression and isolation?Talking to others who are experienc-ing these same feelings can help. We offer regularly schedule support groups.
These free meetings are open to all disabilities and transportation assis-tance is available. During the meet-ings we learn from each other as we talk about the challenges we face and the solutions we’ve found.
If you are 55 years of age or older and have a vision loss, our Senior Blind Services program can help you. We can provide you with the skills, techniques, and equipment you need to perform daily tasks and continue to live independently. How can I correspond with
others if I cannot see to write? There are special tools that can help you write. For example, we have signature guides, check writing guides and raised line tablets, just to name a few.
