Sendera Hosts First Square Dance
It may not have been Saturday Night Fever but Sendera’s first Saturday Night Square Dance was a lot of fun both to watch and to dance. Sendera residents of all ages and levels of expertise, formed squares and listened to the instruction of our guest caller. In no time, there were two squares promenading, allemanding and do-si-doing around the Sendera Mesa Park parking lot. Despite the heat, there was a lot of laughter and good, old-fashioned fun. Let’s make this an annual event.
Acts of the BoardThe Sendera HOA Board of Directors met on June 7, 2012.
Complete minutes from the meeting will be posted on the Sendera web site as soon as they are approved.
A large number of residents attended the meeting. Most were there to express concern over the Deed Restriction Violation letters being received about lawn maintenance. The ambiguous language and lack of reasonable suggestions were cited as the primary problems. The Board agreed to create an insert that would provide additional clarity about what residents were expected to do to meet the requirements of the rules on yard maintenance. The insert will include references and contact information that may prove useful to residents who need to address lawn problems. A recurring theme was the fact that the letter seemed to be saying that the only acceptable action was to re-sod or restore the existing lawn. The Board was adamant that re-thinking a 100% turf lawn was encouraged as long as any changes were approved by the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) and completed in a reasonable time.
Landscapes USA has presented a proposal to enhance the plantings at the entrances. The Board felt it was too late to do the installations since the water restrictions would not allow adequate irrigation for new plants. The implementation of these enhancements was tabled until September.
With the help of Tom Franke of the ACC, the land between Chickasaw Ct. and Chesney Ridge, referred to as the Chickasaw Sink, has been assessed for the possibility of making it more attractive. Although it is an area that must be kept primarily wild, we will be allowed to cut 5 feet into the property and trim low branches. Landscapes USA will provide a proposal for the initial clean-up and continuing maintenance of the area. More improvements may come at a later date.
More Pool NewsLots of sun and heat have drawn big crowds to the Sendera
Swim Center this summer. The lifeguards started the first of June and we have had our first incidence of vandalism when most of the pool furniture was tossed into the pool sometime during the night of June 11th. While this may seem a minor incident, it could easily escalate to more serious damage. If you see any activity at the pool after closing time 10:00 p.m.), please call 911.
We are getting more requests for parties at the pool. Please read the pool rules about these requests. Parties are only allowed between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. but not on weekends or holidays as that is when the pool is most crowded with residents using the facility. Contact Jessica at Goodwin Management to reserve your time. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis.
Any individual or group using the pool must have an access card. Children age 10 and under will not be allowed to use the pool even if they have an access card unless they are accompanied by an adult or designated baby sitter age 15 or older. For all of the rules about pool use go to http://www.senderahoa.com/picture/51sendera_pool_rules_2011.pdf.
The Board of Directors is considering some revisions to the pool rules and will announce any changes via this newsletter as well as on the Sendera web page and Facebook page. If you don’t have access to one of these sources of electronic communication, contact our Webmaster at [email protected].
