February 2015Volume 10, Number 2 Sendera Homeowner's Association
POOLS, TOOLS AND RULESS EN DERA HOMEOW NE R' S ASSOCIATI ON
2014 was a banner year for the Sendera Swim Center and Park. We held several events for the benefit and enjoyment of our residents and their families. We held movie nights, fun runs, an Easter egg hunt, 4th of July party, girl’s night out and other events that contribute to making our neighborhood very special.
We also wanted to report that this past summer our life guards saved the lives of 4 children. My wife and I were actually present at 2 of these events and watched them happen right in front of us. At the end of the pool season we rewarded the pool guards with Visa gift cards for their hard work and as a way of saying thank you.
Your Board of Directors has decided to change pool vendors this year and we will be doing business with a company named Cruzin Aquatics. One of the benefits of this change is that they teach swimming lessons. Many of our residents have been asking for this service and now you will be able to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. We will post the “sign in” information and applications on line and have them on hand at the pool.
This past fall while the pool was closed the BOD decided to remove the cool deck at the pool. This material was originally
placed there as a deterrent to prevent people from slipping and falling. In the past few years it has succumbed to wear and tear and was coming up in large sections. We are also planning to purchase another picnic table that will be kept next to the two existing tables.
Our life guards are there to watch over our residents. We’d like to remind you that you cannot drop off your early teenage/tween children and leave them unattended. This did occur last summer. When this happens, we will have your children call you for immediate pickup. Please tell your children that our pool facility rules will be enforced. One rule that many youngsters seem to ignore is the one that prohibits climbing on or holding on to the lap lane divider. Your children must also be told to mind the instructions and commands of our pool guards as they are there to protect our residents.
We look forward to a wonderful and exciting 2015 pool season. We encourage you to come out and enjoy the free wifi, BBQ pits, picnic tables and our playgrounds. If you do not have a current access card for the pool, contact our management company, Pioneer Management, to secure one.

The Sendera Owners Association Board of Directors, along with your Management Company, has noticed there are fences in the community that are in serious need of replacement. Many are the original fences and time has taken its toll. Effective April 1, 2015, the Board of Directors has instructed Pioneer to start sending deed restriction violation letters for any fences that have broken pickets or panels, gate issues, are leaning, need to be stained or have other maintenance issues.
The Sendera HOA Board obtained a discount with Viking Fence. If you are interested in learning more about the discount, contact their sales representative, Tom Ransom, at his mobile phone-512-809-0051. The discount will vary depending on lot size so hopefully you can coordinate efforts with your neighbors to take advantage of the savings. For those that like the fence stain color on Davis Lane, it is Dark Walnut – OS-025B. A word of caution on stain: not all stain colors come out exactly the same due to wood type and density.
As always, be sure to follow the Sendera Fence Guidelines found on the HOA website (www.senderahoa.org) and be sure to mention to Tom that you are a Sendera resident.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. You can give a voice to the abused and neglected children or our community and our nation. On April 11, join child advocates for Austin’s first March Against Child Abuse and Resource Fair. This is a family friendly event so there will be lost of activities for both children and adults.
Participants will gather at Austin’s City Hall Plaza at 10 A.M. and walk to the Capitol. There will be similar events in over 100 cities. The goal is to raise awareness of child abuse and other crimes against children and to ask lawmakers for tougher sentencing in the case of violent crimes against our children. If possible, it is requested that marchers wear white or blue t-shirts as a visual demonstration of solidarity.
