They remain close to the seafloor, wriggling their way amongst the seaweed fronds. Males are bright green with two wide red-brown horizontal stripes along the body. Females are the same shape but are uniform orange-brown. Narrow iridescent lines outline the position of the male’s horizontal stripes. As for all wrasses, all are born female.
