How much you can build and achieve in your subsequent three years in the diploma course of study will depend on how strong a foundation you lay over the coming months. This covers not just your academic foundation but also in the areas of study skills, leadership skills, and personal and character development. The staff of the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), together with other staff of the Schools in TP and the Student Development & Alumni Affairs department (SDAA), will provide you with a bountiful array of opportunities for your learning, creativity and development. What you would ultimately achieve along the PFP journey would thus depend on how well you capitalize on the opportunities provided. Get set then for a fulfilling and rewarding voyage ahead! A clear focus on your part, along with dedication to stay the course and a spirit of excellence, will enlarge the territory that you can cover. PFP STUDENT LIFE The PFP Ambassadors are current students who have been specially nominated to be leaders, outreach representatives and mentors to future PFP students. Opportunities are plentiful for those keen on leadership development and to be more involved in student-centred activities. Interview sessions and selections will take place in Term 1, so watch out for them! Ambassadors PFP The CFS General Office (GO) is located at Engineering Block 13 Level 3. Here’s where you can find your CFS tutors and where you go to enquire about academic and administrative matters. Move up to Levels 4 and 5 and you’ll find your learning spaces, computer labs and a cosy discussion corner. Space A Care Person (CP) is the first point of contact between you, your parents and TP. A number of things your CP can help you with: • answer your queries about academic progression • share your worries and anxieties about school • advise you on scholarship and financial matters You will be introduced to your CP in the first week of school. The LOA form can be found at the CFS General Office. Submit your forms at the CFS General Office with supporting documents at least one week before the date of absence. Must Do’ s Things to Note Timetable Check and understand how to read your timetable. Save a screenshot of your personal timetable in your mobile phones. Matriculation Card Collect your matriculation card. Memorise your admin number and password. E-accounts Check your student portal, email and online learning accounts. Be sure to check all three accounts on a regular basis. Lessons Bring along your own laptop for lessons. Access e-resources and work on your assignments at your convenience. Pin up the Academic Calendar poster next to your study table at home. Tutors Save the contact details of your CP and subject tutors. When in doubt, drop your tutor an email. Punctuality Be punctual! Arrive early for class, term tests and examinations. Attendance Attendance will be taken for all timetabled classes. Medical Leave (ML) Submit the original Medical Certificate (MC) to the CFS General Office within 2 days from the date of your MC.
