Why the 2nd Amendment?

Natural law: the right to self-defense is self-evident! The author of the Declaration of Independence was clear

Thomas Jefferson on Shay’s Rebellion:“And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. … The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

10th Amendment “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
