SALE OF SURGICAL GAUZE.

Tenders are invited for the purchase of the following quantities of surgical gauze, stored at the offices of the Controller of Medical Supplies, 404, Jaffa Road, Jerusalem, and at several Government stores in Bethlehem: —

(a) Large pieces varying in length from 18-43 yards packed in bales, each bale containing pieces of various lengths, measuring in all approximately 1,400,000 yards.

(b) Pieces of 3 yards in length, in loose packets, measuring in all approximately 689,000 yards.

(c) Pieces of 3 yards in length, in compressed packets, measuring in all approximately * 1,450,000 yards.

Approximate total quantity 3,539,000 yards.

2. The above quantities will be sold in one lot, and only, tenders for the total quantity will be considered.

2• The goods can be inspected by arrangement with the Stores Manager, Controller of Medical Supplies, 404, Jaffa Road, Tel. 3757, Jerusalem, on any weekday from the date of this notice until the 7th January, 1947.

4. Tenders in sealed envelopes marked "Tender for Surgical Gauze" accompanied by a guarantee deposit of 10% of the total value of the tender should be addressed to: —

5. The deposit will be refunded to unsuccessful tenderers.

6. The successful tenderer will be required to pay. the balance of the amount for the purchased goods within 7 days from the date of notification to him of the acceptance of his tender and to remove such goods from their place of storage, at his. own expense within 30 days from such date of notification.

7. The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry does not bind himself to accept the highest or any tender.

II. DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS.

TENDER FOR EXCAVATION OF TRENCHES ETC.

Tenders are invited for the work of excavating and filling in trenches for underground telephone cables along the Mamilla and Jericho roads, Jerusalem, for the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.. The work consists of excavation and filling of approximately 4000 metres of trench.

2. Intending tenderers should apply to the office of the Divisional Engineer South, Posts and Telegraphs, Jerusalem, for specifications and forms of tenders not later than the 5th January, 1947. A fee of £P.2 will be charged for each such specification.

3. As a guarantee of good faith, tenderers are required to forward as a deposit with their tender a cheque in the amount of £P.25 endorsed by a well-known bank in Palestine.

4. In case of the successful tenderer only the amount of £P.25 being the fee for the specification will be placed to his credit, bringing up his deposit to £P.27—.

5. The Postmaster General does not bind himself to accept the lowest, or- any tender. The envelope containing the tender should be plainly marked "Tender for Excavation of Trenches" and should reach the President, Departmental Tenders Board, General Post Office, Jerusalem, not later than 10, ,a.m. on the 10th January, 1947.

6. Tenders by telegraph will not be considered. 24th December, 1946.
