What is the Big difference between Sec 2 and 3 syllabus
• Language learning is a cumulative process. Students will be learning more higher order thinking skills and they will be required to answer questions on news articles and current affairs.
• For essay writing, they will be taught how to write news review (with greater depth) and argumentative essay.
• For oral, they will be tested based on video stimulus given, instead of picture conversation.
• For HMTL, there will be oral component and sentence correction (new SEAB exam format).

• A spiral approach is adopted in the building up of content across the levels

Social Studies: New subject to the students, with content focusing more on post World War II issues such as the conflict in Sri Lanka, Northern Ireland as well as September 11 attack.
History: Focus is on Singapore’s History from 1945 – 1965.
History Elective: Focus is on world events, starting from the end of World War I to the causes of World War II and the Cold War. Answers would also require students to demonstrate more in depth thinking and analysis on the issue.

Areas of focus for the subject?
Focuses on higher-order thinking skills. Basic programming concepts and skills will be learnt through game design; and eventually, applying them to solve problems in everyday context. Better prepare students for further studies in programming and media-related courses; as well as for the work place and future learning. Hands-on activities continue to be the main feature of this skill-based subject.
