Profile ~ Martin L. Kipp

I am a second year Landscape Architecture student at the Universtiy of Florida. Growing up I have always enjoyed looking at maps and I could

spend hours just looking at all the contours. My mom always used to make

me og outside every chance I had, although it wasn’t that hard because I absolutely loved the forests around my

house. Once I got into highschool I took four years of Drafting which helped me

realize my love of design, although it didn’t take me long to find that buildings

were not my passion.

This Project was a Culinary Arts Institute that was bounded by forests on three sides and a residential road to the north. My concept for the park was to make it a culinary arts institute dedicated to Asian and Latin Cuisine.

This Prjocet focused on our first actual site located in Gainesville, Fl. on the corner of University Avenue and 13th street. Our assignment was to create a park so I focused on a transient park that gave shaded passage through it. My concept was creating a park using the Hoggtowne creek to help create the general structe of the park and help guide the flow of people through the park.

Being surrounded by build-ings and residential struc-tures the site posseses few good view sheds. I see only two that have any possibiliy, one which faces the church wall and the other which face the UF campus. It has six pos-sible entrance nodes to be used to cross through the park eciently.

Being surrounded by roads the site has a high noise level attributed to car noise. The two major roads, Uni-versity Ave and 13th str, have high visibility right now so that seems to be an area to x. The small roads behind the park seems to be infre-quently used but there is a small speeding problem right now on them.
