With the SAS project in its finishing stages, MTACC took a larger presence than normal (an entire city block) in order to generate excitement about completion of the project. To help generate this excitement, six-foot fence wrap panels were displayed depicting dynamic construction images, maps of the future Q service to the upper east side, time tables for stops on the new Q service, and photos of the tunnels that fair goers could take photos with, as well as insert their faces into, as if they were helping build the project. A big draw was construction equipment that helped to build the subway which was provided by our construction contractor partners at Judlau and Schiavone. Also adding to the festive atmosphere was music provided by YAZ Band, one of MTA Arts and Design group’s Music Underground artists. And of course, the Community Outreach team answered questions for, and entertained, more than 1,000 people, many of whom are now more knowledgeable about the Second Avenue Subway project and the benefits it will provide for residents of the Upper East Side, and beyond.
