The entertainment began with Raúl Jaurena and his Trio playing a rendition of “Libertango” by Piazzolla. The dexterity in the execution and the emotion of the bandoneón felt as if a romantic blanket had covered the room. We loved the music and we loved Marga Mitchell’s voice and masterful interpretation of "Malena," but we all had read in the program that Hernan Brizuela and María Elena Ybarra would be dancing, and we were lled with anticipation. They walked in with the air of elegance and condence which characterizes those who feel tango in their hearts. The rst performance was "Jamás Retornarás" (You will never return) by Miguel Caló. The lyrics reect the sadness of a lover and the need to dance it with passion. “When she said, ‘goodbye’ I wanted to cry….… All the dreams that I had in my heart, all the hopes, crumbled into pieces.” María and Hernan conveyed the emotion of this tango beautifully. The clean and sensuous ochos and boleos María executed, together with Hernan’s milonguero style, took our breath away and lled the room with a true Buenos Aires experience. I, and those I saw around me, were deeply touched. The second performance was the milonga "Reliquias Porteñas" by Francisco Canaro. Milonga is the happy dance of the trilogy Tango, Vals, and Milonga. Here, one can be creative and playful. Hernan and María beautifully expressed their happy playfulness and showed us how one can create their very own syncopations when changing styles from milonga lisa to milonga traspié. The speed of the couple’s feet made us appreciate them as the accomplished and professional dancers they are. Hernan and María ended their presentation with a beautiful interpretation of "Gallo Ciego.” The strong beat and the unique phrasing of the melody gave Hernan and María the opportunity to dance and move in a complex lattice of sensuous movements and steps. Many thanks to Tango under the Tent for providing us with the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful "Buenos Aires" experience and thanks to our DJ, Ilene Marder, for letting us enjoy her wonderful music. We loved the music and we loved Marga M i t c h e l l ’s v o i c e a n d m a s t e r f u l interpretation of "Malena," but we all had read in the program that Hernan Brizuela and María Elena Ybarra would be dancing, and we were !lled with anticipation. María and Hernan conveyed the emotion of this tango beautifully. The clean and sensuous ochos and boleos María executed, together with Hernan’s milonguero style, took our breath away and !lled the room with a true Buenos Aires experience. I, and those I saw around me, were deeply touched.

The second performance was the milonga "Reliquias Porteñas" by Francisco Canaro.

By now, we all agree that the  Mega M i l o n g a w a s  a h u g e  s u c c e s s , f a b u l o u s l y  e n j o y a b l e a n d m a d e particularly  special  by everyone's presence, and of course by  the  generous food contributions  made by tangueros as well as offers by the local culinary experts. Fratello, Landmark Inn, Jean Claude P a s t r y , t h e I r o n F o r g e a n d Yesterday's teased us with their delightful gourmet treats.

All I could hear from Milongueros was... wow, who made this and who made that? Certainly, many of us will  visit these very special establishments  in the near future... John and I are starting to make our reservations.  We are grateful to everyone.  Great company, fabulous music, beautiful dance and delicious food - what a great combination!!!

Finally TutT would like to give special thanks to the very generous individuals who contributed and participated in the silent auction. A round of applause goes to Pam Breeman who organized the silent auction. The Breemans are major supporters

of Tango under the Tent. Thank you Pam and Barry.

A date is targeted and a vision for the event is discussed and the rest is pure heart felt work. This is what the Mega Milonga Committee members did.

Everyone chipped in and it all came together on Saturday, July 10th for our 2nd Annual Mega Milonga. I wish to take this time to thank the following members for their work on the Mega Milonga: Randi Perrelle, Pam Breeman, Luz Piedad & Sigfredo

Carrion, Adele & Jerry Kline, Ingrid & Karl Jacob, Sam Fernandez, Yolanda Gorman, Lourdes & John Minos, Linda Goldsmith, Josephine Restivo, Sharon Adler & Steve Smith, Ferd Ritz, and Walter Breeman and his buddy.

Also we must always send our special thank you to Mr. Jim Murray for his wonderful facility and his gracious hospitality!
