ENFORCEMENT PROCEEDINGS
ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER ENTERED AGAINST CARONA & HODGES MANAGEMENT, INC. AND JAMES CARONA
The Commission announced that on February 8 it instituted administrative proceedings pursuant to Section 203(e) ar" (f) of the Investment Advisers Act against Caron) & Hodges Management, Inc. (C&H Management), a registered investment adviser, and Ja~c~ G. Carona (Carona), its president. Simultaneously, the Commission accepted C&H Management's and Carona's Offers of Settlement, under which C&H Management and Carona consented, without admitting or denying the findings, to the entry of the Order, pursuant to which C&H Management's registration as an investment adviser is revoked, and Carona is barred from association with any broker, dealer, investment company,investment adviser or municipal securities dealer.
The Commission's Order is based on findings that C&H Management has been permanently enjoined by the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York from violating the antifraud and other provisions of the Advisers Act and that Carona has been permanently enjoined from aiding and abetting C&H Management's violations in SEC v. Carona and Hodges Management, Inc., James G. Carona and William J. Hodges, 92 Cr.. 1253, CGC. The Commission alleged, inter alia, that the defendants defrauded C&HManagement's clients by receiving undisclosed compensation from companies in which client funds were invested. (Rel. IA-1403)

A notice has been issued giving interested persons until March 14 to request a hearing on an application filed by IDS Bond Fund, et al. '-'at- an order under Section 6(c) of the Investment Company Act that would exempt applicants from Sections 2(a)(32), 2(a)(35), 18(f)(l). 18(g), 18(i). 22(c), and 22(d) of the Act and Rule 22c-1 thereunder. The order would supersede two prior orders that permit certain investment companies to assess a contingent deferred sales charge (CDSC) on redemptions of shares. The present order would expand the investment companies eligible to assess a CDSC, and permit certain investment companies to issue multiple classes of shares representing interests in the same portfolio of securities.
