Wireless Roaming iLab Report
Task 1Configure DES Global and Node Statistics Under Node
Statistics, select Data Traffic Received (bits/sec) and Throughput
(bits/sec). Capture a copy of the completed Choose Results dialog (
) and paste it into your lab document.
Task 2Run the Discrete Event Simulation Use to capture a copy of
the Simulation Execution dialog shown below and paste it into your
lab document.
Task 3Analyze the WLAN and WAP DES Results
Under Global Statistics for the Wireless LAN, select Delay and
Throughput. Make sure that the presentation is set to Stacked
Statistics. Use to capture this DES Graphs window and paste it into
your lab document.
What is the average Throughput for the Wireless LAN?
700,000 bits per second
When does the largest delay in the Wireless LAN occur?Once the
simulation was ran, according to simulation time; the biggest delay
occurred at 30th second after the simulation was started. The delay
was .8 sec or 800 millisecond which is obviously huge.
Under Object Statistics, select Group A WAP / Data Traffic Recvd
(bits/sec) and Group B WAP / Data Traffic Recvd (bits/sec). Change
the presentation style to Overlaid Statistics. Use to this DES
Graphs window (as shown below) and paste it into your lab
document.
When does the Group A WAP traffic dip begin? Starts at 0 second
of simulation time
When does the Group A WAP traffic dip end? It finishes at 1
minute and 40 seconds
What server traffic accounts for the peak in Group B traffic?
Server for B Group
Task 4Analyze the Group A and Group B Server Throughput Under
Object Statistics, select Server for A Group / Throughput
(bits/sec) and Server for B Group / Throughput (bits/sec). Change
the presentation style to Stacked Statistics. Use to this DES
Graphs window (as shown below) and paste it into your lab
document.
Explain the drop in Throughput for the Server for B Group at
about 65 seconds.
The server roamed to WAP for group A therefore we see a traffic
load drop at 65th second. Consequently; the load on WAP for Group A
increased and the load for WAP for Group B decreased.
