PURPOSE

To allocate a broad-based subject combination that matches the child’s ability and passion so as to enable

him/her to optimise his/her performance at ‘N’ levels and to progress to a course of choice in

Polytechnic / ITE

HS is offering 4 main subject combinations in 2016 for Normal Technical (NT) Stream (tentative)

SUBJECTS COMBINATION CODE

SUITABLE FOR

D&T EBS

DT-EBS Students who like design and business

D&TScience

DT-SCI Students with strong interest in design and wants to pursue science related courses in ITE

Art EBS

Art-EBS Students with keen interest in art design and business

ArtScience

Art-SCI Students with a keen eye for design and wants to pursue science related courses in ITE

‘N’ Level Requirements - Normal Technical Stream : Minimum number of 5 Subjects

Students will be graded A, B, C, D or Ungraded according to their performance in each subject

NITEC courses in ITE require a minimum of 2 N-Level Passes

Students getting only 2 N-Level Passes will need to attend an Extended Nitec Foundation Programme (e-NFP) in ITE

Some ITE courses require a pass in EL, Maths and/or Science

PLEASE NOTE

NT students interested in studying 4N(A) can do so if they get an A in both English and Mathematics and at least a B in one other subject in N-Level.

Grading System For 4NA & 4NTfor Entry to NITEC COURSES

N-Level Subject (NT Course)

B 2 POINTS

C 3 POINTS

D 4 POINTS

U 5 POINTS

Calculation of the Aggregate of BEST 4 GCE ‘N’ Level Subjects

The combined points for the student’s BEST 4 Subjects will be the aggregate score for that student shown in the table.

However there are also subject(s) that the student is required to pass in addition to fulfilling the aggregate score) where applicable.

Aggregate points for Nitec courses is calculated based on the best 4 GCE 'N' Level subjects.

SUBJECT COMBINATION ALLOCATION PROCESS

• Only need to indicate the order of choice (1-4) and not subject codes when opting for subject combinations for NT students

• The school will look at every student’s performance and indicate on the subject combination form, the subject combination that he/she is most suited for.

• With your parents, you are strongly encouraged to take school’s recommendation into consideration when making your selection.
