General informationThis manual contains important information, tips, suggestions and warnings

on using your radio. The other publications in the vehicle wallet contain

further information which you should be aware of for your own safety and for

the safety of your passengers.

Ensure that the onboard documentation is kept in the vehicle at all times.

This is especially important when lending or selling the vehicle to another

person.

This manual contains a description of the equipment supplied with the

vehicle at the time of going to press. Some of the equipment described here

will not be available until a later date, or is available only in certain markets.

The illustrations are intended as a general guide, and may vary from the

equipment fitted in your vehicle in some details.

Directions and positions (e.g. right, left, front, rear) are always relative to the

direction of travel of the vehicle unless otherwise stated.

The equipment marked with an asterisk* comes in series only in determined

model versions, is optional in some models, or is only offered in specific

countries.

IntroductionImportant Information. Traffic safetyTravelling on today's roads requires the driver's full attention at all times.

Only operate the radio and its various functions when the traffic situation

really permits this.

WARNING

• Before starting the trip, you should familiarise yourself with the different radio functions.

• High volumes may present a danger to you and to others.

• Adjust the volume in a way that you can distinguish surrounding noise, for example, horns, sirens, etc.

• Radio settings should be made when the car is stopped, or by a passenger.

NoteSeparate the radio navigation card and keep it in a safe place, but never

within the vehicle. If the radio is lost with the code, go to a SEAT Dealer, who

will help you.

Convenience anti-theft code

The sound equipment automatically identifies “its” vehicle.

If the electricity supply is interrupted, when the ignition is switched on again,

the sound equipment automatically checks whether it can still identify “its”

vehicle. Once the vehicle has been identified, the sound equipment is again

ready for use after a few seconds.

With the convenience code it is no longer necessary to manually unblock the

sound equipment.

However if the sound equipment is in another vehicle, it must be unblocked

by entering the code. To obtain the code, contact an authorised SEAT

dealer.

Information referring to the radio is also displayed on the instrument panel.

The function is activated by pressing and holding the lower button of the

rocker switch located at the end of the windscreen wiper lever and selecting

the function “Audio” in the menu.

is not visible (normal screen for the selected source) and the change is not

Remember that if this protection is activated when the temporary volume

indicator is visible, it will appear to be a reduction of the volume selected by

AUDIO Menu

Using the key AUDIO you will open an overview of all sound settings that

can be selected ⇒ page 8, fig. 1.

To select the desired setting, press the corresponding multifunction key. Use

the search keys to start the adjustment of the sound settings:

BASS (bass settings) / MID (mid-range settings) / TREB (treble settings).

To make handling easier, the radio has a PROG menu which allows you to

programme a series of settings which are required only very occasionally.

Search functions

Radio stations can be selected manually or an automatic search can be

carried out.

Automatic station search

To automatically search for the next or previous station on the same wave-

band, press or ⇒ page 15 .

The search only stops at stations with good quality reception. These are

shown on the radio display .

Manual station search - radio mode

After selecting the desired waveband, press the MAN multifunction key; then,

using the search keys , select the desired frequency. If these buttons are

pressed briefly, the shift is in steps (of 9 KHz on AM and 100 kHz on FM) and

if the buttons are held down, the frequencies change rapidly. In this way it is

possible to tune into stations with a weak signal which can not be found

using the automatic search function.

SCAN function

When the SCAN function is active, all stations with a good reception will be

played for 10 seconds each. To select a station, stop the SCAN function whilst

the required station is being played.

You start and stop the SCAN function by briefly pressing the multifunction key

SCAN ⇒ page 15 .

If the tuned station is already stored, the corresponding pre-tuning button

number will be displayed.

Switching to traffic reports (TP function)*

The TP function is only valid for the European version.

When the TP (receive traffic reports) function is on, the car radio is able to

receive traffic reports in any operating mode.

The TP function can only be used on FM. If the radio is connected to AM, the

TP function automatically switches off.

Switching on the TP function

When the TP key is pressed, the display reads:

- TP: if the station selected broadcasts traffic reports.

- (TP): if the station selected does not broadcast traffic reports.

Traffic messages are reproduced at a set minimum volume. The minimum

volume can be changed using the PROG menu. After the traffic message, the

radio returns to the previously selected station at the previous volume.

The playing of the CD or the CD6/Aux will be interrupted while the traffic

messages are broadcast.

Radio stations can be stored on every pre-tuning key. Two memory levels are

available for each frequency (AM1, AM2, FM1 or FM2).

Storing a radio station

To store a radio station on a pre-tuning key ⇒ page 13 , first select the

wavelength (AM or FM).

Then select the required memory level (AM1, AM2, FM1 or FM2) ⇒ page 16.

The current memory level will be shown in the display.

Using the Autostore function, the six stations with the strongest reception in

a frequency (AM or FM) are stored automatically.

The Autostore function is activated by briefly pressing the AS multifunction

LEARN memory (lrn)

This function is only available on FM.

The stations with the best reception can be stored in the LEARN memory.

This function is useful if you are searching in a zone not normally used and

you do not want to erase the stations stored in memory buttons (1 to 6) to

which you are accustomed.

Press the LRN multifunction key. “Learn” appears on the display.

The receiver searches the FM wavelength and stores the stations with the

best reception in the area at that moment.

PTY mode

The PTY function is only valid in the European version

This allows you to select the type of programme desired, where the stations

offer the PTY service in the FM ranges.

To activate the PTY function, briefly press the PTY button, then select the

programme type shown on the display using the corresponding multi-func-

tion key.

After selection, the search starts, and stops for 10 seconds when it finds a

station with the desired PTY (the display reads pty and the selected

programme type).

If the user decides to listen to the selected station, the search is stopped and

the details of the station are displayed.

To search for the next station, press the multi-function key or the search keys

within the 10 seconds.

If no station is found with the selected programme type, the PTY function is

deactivated and the radio returns to the last selected station.

Inserting a CD

Push the audio CD with the printed side facing up into the CD slot until it is

automatically pulled in.

After inserting an MP3 format CD, the display will indicate “reading” while the

CD structure is read and recognised. During this time no functions are avail-

able.

Turning the iPod® on and off

Turning On

The iPod® turns on automatically if it is in the adaptor when the sound system

is switched on. The battery will also charge when the iPod® is in the adaptor.

Depending on the sound system, the iPod® will turn itself off some minutes

after the sound system is turned off.

• If the iPod® has the “random” function activated when attached to the

adaptor, it will also be selected in the sound system and can be deactivated

What are MP3 files?

MP3 (MPEG 1 Audio Layer-3) is a standardised technology and format for the

compression of sound sequences. The sound file is compressed to about

1/10th of its original size. Sounds that are out of the human hearing range

are excluded while those that are within the range are compressed.

This unit can display the information from the ID3 data field, versions 1 and

2, to a maximum of 60 characters in total.

Note• When an MP3 disc is being played it is possible that some songs may not

play or may be played incorrectly. This may be due to the configuration of the

disc, the software or the hardware used for the recording.

• Audio CDs (CD-A) meet the specifications and carry a corresponding

symbol. Those CDs with copyright protection do not meet these specifica-

tions and do not bear the corresponding symbol; for this reason there may be

errors in reading this type of disc.

• For MP3 CDs the MP3 data rate should oscillate between 8 and 320

Kb/sec.

• It is possible to read multi-session discs but if the data has been recorded

in both formats (CD-DA and MP3), regardless of the order, only the audio

tracks will be played.

• With other formats that are not ISO 9660 level 1 or 2, the names of the

files and folders may not be displayed correctly.

• When naming an MP3 file make sure the extension is correct. Writing

“.MP3” for a non-MP3 file means that the file will not be recognised and may

play unwanted noises.

• It is not possible to play MP3 files that are deeper than the first 8 folder

levels. To speed up the reading and searching, only two levels of folders are

recommended.

• The following types of disc will take some time to begin playing:

• A disc with many folder levels.

• A multi-session disc.

• A disc to which information may be added (Open).

• It will not be possible to play an audio CD (CD-R/CD-RW) that has not been

closed.

Precautionary measures for the use of laser equipment

Laser devices are classified by DIN IEC 76 (CO) 6/ VDE 0837 into safety

classes 1 to 4.

The SEAT CD player corresponds to safety class 1.

The lasers used in class 1 units are low energy lasers, or are shielded in such

a manner that they present no danger when used correctly.

Do not remove the cover of the unit. It does not have any parts which can be serviced by the user.

Tips for CD mode

To ensure perfect, high-quality CD reproduction, only clean, undamaged CDs

should be used.

Please do not stick any labels onto the CDs.

Compact discs not being used should always be stored in the CD rack from

the Genuine SEAT accessories range or in the original case.

Never expose CDs to direct sunlight!

rádio só deveriam ser utilizadas quando a situação de tráfego o permita.

• Antes de iniciar a viagem, lembre-se que é fundamental conhecer as diferentes funções do rádio.

• O volume elevado pode representar um perigo para si e para os outros.

• Regule o volume de modo a poder distinguir os outros ruídos, como, por exemplo, buzinas, sirenes, etc.

• Os ajustes do auto-rádio deveriam ser feitos com o veículo parado, ou pelo acompanhante.

O equipamento de som identificará automaticamente o «seu» veículo.

Se a corrente for interrompida, ao voltar a ligar a ignição, o equipamento de

som verifica automaticamente se ainda se encontra no «seu» veículo. Caso

isso aconteça, dentro de poucos segundos volta a estar pronto a funcionar.

Com o código do conforto deixa de ser necessário desbloquear manualmente

o equipamento de som.

No entanto, se o equipamento de som se encontrar noutro veículo, deve

desbloqueá-lo introduzindo o código. Para obter esse código, dirija-se a um

Serviço Oficial SEAT.

Função Soft-Clipping

O rádio tem um sistema de redução automático do ajuste de volume para

evitar a distorção e possíveis danos no rádio e nos altifalantes.

Na maioria das ocasiões esta protecção é realizada quando a indicação de

volume não é visível (display normal da fonte seleccionada) e não se percebe

nenhuma mudança.

Tenha em conta que se a protecção é activada no momento em que está

visível a indicação temporal de volume, será percebida como uma redução

do ajuste de volume seleccionado pelo usuário.

Protecção contra sobrecargas

No caso de altas temperaturas e/ou grande volume, pode haver uma reacção

do circuito de protecção.

Pesquisa manual de emissoras

Uma vez seleccionada a banda desejada, pressionar a tecla multifunções

MAN; em seguida, através das teclas de pesquisa seleccionar a

frequência desejada. Se estas teclas forem pressionadas brevemente, a

deslocação é feita passo a passo (de 9kHz em AM e de 100 kHz em FM) e se

continuarem pressionadas, as frequências deslocam-se rapidamente. Desta

forma, é igualmente possível sintonizar emissoras com um sinal fraco, que

não sejam detectáveis através da pesquisa automática.

Função SCAN

Com a função SCAN activada, é feita uma passagem de 10 segundos por

todas as estações emissoras com boa qualidade de recepção. Para selecci-

onar uma das estações emissoras, cancelar a função SCAN enquanto essa

emissora está a ser emitida.

A função TP só é válida para a versão europeia.

Com a função de recepção de informações de tráfego TP activada, o aparelho

está preparado para receber mensagens sobre a situação do tráfego em qual-

A função TP só pode ser utilizada na banda de FM. Se a banda AM for ligada,

a função TP é desactivada automaticamente.

apagar as habituais emissoras sintonizadas nas teclas de memória (1 a 6).

Conecte um dispositivo portátil de reprodução de áudio (MP3, Walkman, CD,

etc.) ou áudio e vídeo (iPod vídeo, reprodutor de DVD portátil, reprodutor de

DivX, etc.) no conector AUX RSE, assegurando-se de que as cavilhas fiquem

perfeitamente conectadas. O controlo das pastas, músicas, cenas,.....é feito

a partir do equipamento portátil ligado.

São fornecidos de série vários adaptadores do iPod® que garantem a sua

Utilize o adaptador grande para o iPod® pequeno. Introduza o adaptador no

conector e coloque em seguida o iPod®.

Para os iPods® de maiores dimensões, utilize um dos adaptadores pequenos

reprodução pre-determinadas (on-the-go, minhas favoritas,..). Estas pastas

também serão no total 6 que podem ser reproduzidas no sistema de som do

veículo. Certifique-se que as ordena e/ou edita segundo as suas preferên-

cias.

Ao premir a tecla poderá reproduzir a totalidade das músicas armaze-

nadas no iPod.

Consulte o manual de instruções do fabricante do iPod® para saber como

seleccionar e armazenar músicas, bem como para criar listas de reprodução.

rádio SEAT da série RCD ou um sistema de navegação SEAT da série RNS.

Armazenamento de ficheiros num cartão de memória ou num leitor de MP3

Recomenda-se o armazenamento em pastas para memoriza-las directamente

no directorio raíz de memória ou num leitor. Desta forma, poderá guardar as

músicas de forma ordenada (p. ex., agrupando todas as músicas do mesmo

estilo musical num pasta).

Com as teclas de função até do rádio, pode seleccionar apenas

as 6 primeiras pastas.

Caso tenha mais de 6 pastas no cartão de memória ou no leitor de MP3, o seu

conteúdo não poderá ser reproduzido.

Poderá então subdividir as pastas noutras para guardar, p. ex., os diferentes

álbuns de um autor.

MP3 (MPEG 1 Audio Layer-3) é uma tecnologia e formato estandardizado de

compressão de sequências de som. O ficheiro é comprimido numa relação de

aproximadamente 1/10 em relação ao seu tamanho original. Os sons fora da

margem de audição humana são omitidos enquanto que os que sim podem

ser escutados são comprimidos.

Nota• Quando reproduza um CD MP3 é possível que algumas canções não se

reproduzam ou se reproduzam de modo incorrecto. Isto pode ter como causa

a configuração do disco, o software ou o hardware utilizado para a gravação.

• Os CD's de áudio (CD-A) cumprem as especificações e utilizam o logótipo

correspondente. Os CD's com protecção anticópia não cumprem estas espe-

cificações e não utilizam o logótipo correspondente, pelo qual poderiam

ocorrer falhas na reprodução de algum destes CD's.

• No caso de CD's MP3 a velocidade de transmissão de MP3 deverá oscilar

entre 8 e 320 Kb/seg.

• É possível reproduzir CD's multisessão mas se os dados estão gravados

em ambos formatos (CD-DA e MP3), sem distinção de ordem, unicamente

será reproduzida a pista que contém dados de áudio.

• Com outros formatos que não sejam ISO 9660 Nível 1 ou Nível 2, os

nomes de ficheiros ou pastas podem não ser mostrados correctamente.

• Quando se dá o nome a um ficheiro MP3 deve assegurar-se que a

extensão «.MP3» num ficheiro que não seja de MP3, a unidade não será

capaz de reconhecer o ficheiro e poderá produzir ruído.

• Não é possível reproduzir os ficheiros MP3 que se encontrem fora dos 8

primeiros níveis de subpastas. Para agilizar a leitura e procura recomenda-se

utilizar somente 2 níveis.

• Os seguintes discos demorarão mais para iniciar a reprodução:

Os aparelhos com laser são agrupados segundo as normas DIN IEC 76 (CO)

6/VDE 0837 nas classes 1-4 em função da sua segurança.

O leitor de CDs da SEAT pertence à classe 1.

O laser utilizado nestes equipamentos é de baixa intensidade e está isolado,

não representando, portanto, nenhum perigo se o aparelho for utilizado

correctamente.

Não abra a caixa do equipamento. O aparelho não tem peças, que possam ser reparadas pelo utilizador.

Conselhos sobre o modo CD

Para garantir a melhor qualidade de reprodução do CD, recomenda-se que

sejam apenas utilizados discos que não apresentem danos, riscos ou suji-

dade.

Não devem ser coladas etiquetas nos CDs.

Guarde os CDs numa bolsa para CDs (pode encontrar uma, por exemplo, no

Catálogo de Acessórios Originais SEAT) ou na respectiva caixa.
