Computer software is digital informafion which can be interpreted by a computer and any of its relatedcomponents to direct the way they work Software is stored in electronic magneticoptical or otherdigital form It commonly includes programs to run operatingsystems applications like wordprocessing graphics or spreadsheet programs utilities compilers interpreters and communicationsprograms

Data contained on hard drives electronic devices or removable media and atl items listed in the sectionsof these documents that describe the items being sought to include deleted files archived files and emailfiles

Cell phones PDAsSmart Phones and GPS Devices including all the peripheral attachments cords andchargers

Data contained within any seized cellular phone SIM card PDA or electronic device to include bnt notlimited to call logs contacts text messages audio messages images Internet cache and deleted dataInternet and phone billings or other papers pertaining to cellular accounts or internet providersAny papers notes address books maps or other records associated with Internet use including Internetuser names passwords addresses or phone numbersPhotos andor video taken during the execution of the searc6 warrant of the areas searched and the itemsand people present at the scenePapers letters photos or other pieces of identication showing possession owners6ip or confrol over theareas to be searched

This affiant applies for issuance of a search warrant upon the foliowing grounds

The facts tending to establish the foregoing grounds for issuance of a search wairant are as follows

Affiant Brian Bone has been a police officer for over 20 years The last 17 years as a police officer for the AppleValley Police Department in Minnesota Affiant is currently assigned to the investigative division of the AppleValley PoiceDeparhnent as a Detecrive Affiant has read reports and conducted interviews while investigaring thiscase and believes the following to be true

On 11715 at 1256 hours officers with the Apple Valley Police Departmentwere called to the residence at 1051Ramsdell Drive in Apple Valley regarding possible dead bodies inside the residence A neighbor JLP fullyidentified in police reports called the Apple Valley Police after being suspicious about not seeing any activityaround the residence for several weeks Prochnow went to 1051 Ramsdell Drive and looked inside through thewindows She told police dispatch that she saw multiple dead bodies in the house She said the there was a dog thatwas alive inside the home She also reported seeing a gun in the house near thebodies

When officers arrived they found the house secure with the exception ofthe rear patio door which was unlockedOfficers made entry to clear the house and make sure the people inside were deceased Officers were able toconfirm that there were three people deceased and in a state of advanced decomposirion The officers also found agun at the scene

Your affiant is requesting a search warrant for the residence to investigate this incident and determine the cause andnature of the peoplesdeath It appears that one of more ofthe deceased died of a gunshot wound

Your affiant MichaelTietz has been a licensed Police Officer for the City of Apple ValleyState of Minnesota since 2003 Your affiant is cuaently assigned to the Police DepartmentsInvestigations Unit Your affiant has worked with other experienced police officers andinvestigators has been involved in the execution of search warrants and has made azrests forcriminal violations In tlus capacity your affiant has been assigned to assist in the investigationof a homicide that occurred in the City of Apple Valley

Your Affiant reviewed reports executed search warrants and learned the following

On11715at 1256 hours officers with the Apple Va11ey Police Department were called to theresidence at 1051 Ramsdell Drive in Apple Valley Dakota County Minnesota regardingpossible dead bodies inside the residence A neighbor JLP fully identified in police reportscalled the Apple Valley Police after being suspicious about not seeing any activity around theresidence for several weeks JLP went to 1051 Itamsdell Drive and looked inside through thewindows JLP told police dispatch that she saw multiple dead bodies in the house

Sergeant Gummert told yourAiantthat he reviewed documents at the school the Crowleyscluld attended and learned that the David and Komel Cmwley had multiple emergency contactnumbers on file at the school One ofKomel Crowleysemergency contact numbers was 6513330072 Your Affiant checked the FoneFinder website and found that the service pmvider forphone number 651 3330072was ATT

Your Affiant is aware through training and experience that individuals equently call andortextmessage each other regarding criminal activity during andorafter and event has occurredYourAfant is also aware that a high percentage ofthe population regularly uses and carries acellulaz phone with them during their day to dayactivities When cell phones make a call orreceive a call they will register with a cellular tower in the geographical area of the crime YourAffiant is awaze that there are many cell phone providers and resellers of cell phones YourAffiaat is aware thax a11 of these cell phones operate on four major cell phone networks in theState of Minnesota These networks are Verizon SprintTMobile and ATTYourAanthas spoken toATTATTdid tell your affiant that they are able to provide Law Enforcementrecords ofall cell phones that registered with ATTtowers in a certain location at a certain timeATTca11s thisacellular towerdump

The Affiant is awaze that often information is exchanged via cellular telephone calls and textmessages that will show a particular person has or has not had contact with specific persons TheAffiant is also of the belief that a review and analysis of text messages and call detail recordsregarding the individuals involved in this incident may in fact assist in corroborating or refutinginformation involved in this investigation The Affiant is also aware that the datasought may

generate additional information that may be used as investigative leads to gather furtherinformation related to this investigation The Affiant is also aware that cellular telephonerecords can often verify the particular cellular telephone tower that the telephone wascommunicating with and therefore establish that a person is near a specific location at a specifictime

Your Affiant is awaze that ATTis a foreign corporation located outside the State of Minnesotain the State of Florida Your Affiant is aware tliat the Court has jurisdiction to issue a MinnesotaState search warrant for records held by the above corporation pursuant to Minnesota Statestatute 62618subd22wluch allows a search warrant for records that are in actual constructivepossession ofa foreign corporation that pmvides electronic communication services or remotecomputing services to the general public where those records would reveal the identity ofthecustomers using those services data stored by or on behalfof the customer the customersusage ofthose services the recipient or destination ofcommunications sent to or from thosecustomers or the content ofthose messages

The facts tending to establish the foregoing grounds for issuance ofa search warrant are as follows

Affiant Sean McKught has been a police officer with the City ofApple Valley for over 21 yeazs Affiant iscurrently assigned to the investigative division of the Apple Valley Police Deparlment Affiant has read reports andconducted interviews while investigating is case and believes the following to be true

On 11715 at 1256 hours officers with the Apple Valley Police DepaRment were called to the residence at 1051Ramsdell Drive in Apple Valley regarding possible dead bodies inside the residence A neighbor JLP fullyidenrified in poIice reports called the Apple Valley Police after being suspicious about not seeing any activityaround the residence for several weeks JPL went to 1051 Ramsdell Drive and looked inside through tewitdowsShe toldpolice dispatch that she saw muhiple dead bodies in the house She said the there was a dog that was aliveinside the home She also reported seeing a gun in the house near the bodies

When officers arrived they found the house secure with the exception ofthe rear patio door which was unlockedand slightly ajar Officers made entry to clear the house and make sure the people inside were deceased Officerswere able to confiim that there were tree people deceased and in a state ofadvanced decomposition T6e officersalso found a gun at the scene

A seazch warrant was executed on O1 1 7120 1 5 at 1651 hours Through the course of the execution of the searhwarrant it was conSrmed that three people were dead inside the home and had been there for a long period of timeThe physical descriptions matched that of the residents ofthe home They are fully identified in police reports andwill be identified in this application as DTCKRC RC

Ttevbodies were brought to die Hennepin County Medical ExaminersOffice Autopsies are in progess on KRCand RC If has been preliminary confirmed that they died ofgunshot wound to the head The autopsy on DTC hasnot yet been started

Computer and social media sites were checked to investigate the lives of the victims It was learned that DTC is afilm maker and has at least one movie trailer posted on the internet The plot of this video involves citizens standingup toatotalitarian state The video includes images of people being shot in the back of the head

During the search warrant a note was left near one of the computers telling the reader to open the latest version ofTHE RISE a movie being made byDTC

I am requesring this warrant to conduct a forensic search ofthe compirters and digital media seized during the searchwamant conducted at the crime scene for evidence related to death of DTC KRC and RC

On 11715 at 1256 hours officers with the Apple Valley Police Department were called to the residence at 1051Ramsdell Drive in Apple Valley regarding possible dead bodies inside the residence A neighbor JLP fullyidentified in police reports caUeiee Apple Valley Police after being suspicious about not seeing any activityaround the residence for several weeks JLP went to 1051 Ramsdell Drive and looked inside through the windowsShe told police dispatch that she saw multiple dead bodies in the house She said the there was a dog that was aliveinside the home She also reportedsing a gun in the house near thebodies

When officers arrived they found the house secure with the exception of the rear pario door wtuch was unlockedOfficers made entry to clear the house and make sure the people inside were deceased Officers were able toconfirm that there were people deceased and in a state ofadvanced decomposition The officers also found agun at the scene

Officers and Detectives continued to investigate the matter on11715and11815 with the assistance of theMinnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension BCA crime scene team Our initial investigation showed that threepeople died inside the residence as a result ofgunshot wounds There did not appear to be any forced entry into thehouse or any other signs to indicate that there was another party involved in causing the deaths of the family

On 118I S autopsies were completed by the Hennepin County Medical Examinersoffice which confumed thecause of death in all duee individuals Two of the individuals were eventually identified as David Timothy Crowley07071985and Komel Rasool Crowleyl1201986 the married couple who lived at this residence

During the course of the investigation your affiant spoke toafriend of the family CPK fully identified in policereports CPK said he had been to the house since the discovery ofthis incident and indicated he was familiar withbullet holes in the floor and ceiling of the house Your affiant was present during the initial search of the house andwas not familiar with a butet beittg discovered in the ceiling or roof of the house

OnI18ISDetective McKnight contacted David Crowleysfather Daniel Theodore Crowley03101962 whogave verba consent for Detective McKnight and t ta go to the house to look for evidence of a bullet in the ceilingUpon gaining entry into the house Detective McKnight and i found what appears to be a bullet hole in the ceiling ofthe living room near where the Crowley family was discovered and near the front entry way to the house

Your affiant contacted the BCA Crime Scene Team and has arranged for them to come to the scene to photographmark measure the hole that was discovered and determine if there is any other evidence to recover as a result of thisdiscovery t should be noted that at the time of the initial search of the house with the BCA Crime Scene Teamwere not able to account for one 1 bullet from the weapon believed to be used in this incident

Your affiant is requesting a search warrant for the residence to further investigate this incident and determine ifthere is further evidence at the residence

The facts tending to establish the foregoing grounds for issuance of a search warantare as follows

Your affiant Michael Tietz has been a licensed Police Officer for the City ofApple ValleyStaie of Minnesota since 2003 Your Afl7ant is currently assigned to the Police DepartmentsInvestigations Unit Your Affiant has worked with other experienced policeofficers andinvestigators has been involved in the execution ofsearch warrants and has made arrests forcriminal violations In this capacity your ant has been assigned to assist in the investigationofa homicide that occurred in the City of Apple Valley


On11715 at 1256 hours officers with the Apple ValleyPolice Department were called to theresidence at 1051 Ramsdell Drive in Apple Valley Dakota County Minnesota regazdingpossible dead bodies inside the residence A neighbor JLP fully identified in police reportscalled the Apple Valley Police after being suspicious about not seing any activity azound theresidence foz several weeks JLP went to 1051 Ramsdell Drive and looked inside through thewindows JLP told police dispatch that she saw multiple dead bodies in the house

Whenoficers arrived they found the house secure with the exception ofthe rear patio doorwhich was unlocked Officers made eatry to clear the house and make sure the people insidewere deceased Officers were able to confirm that there were three people deceased and in astate ofadvanced decomposition The deceased were later identified as David Cmwley KomelCrowley and their child

Sergeant Gummert told your Affiant that he reviewed documents at the school theCrowleyschild attended and learned that the David and Komel Crowley had multiple emergency contactnwnbers on file at the school One of the Crowleysemergency contact numbers was 254 6160461 Your Affiant checked the Clear database website and found that the servic provider forphone number 2546160461 wasTMobile Your Affiant applied to the courts for a searchwarrant to obtain records fromTMobile for the phone number 254 6160461 The HonorableColleen King reviewed the warrant and signed it ordering a search ofTMobile Your Affiant served thewarrant onTMobile who later responded that the telephone number 254 6160461 was assigned toATTduring the times specified on the warrant

Your Aflfiant is aware through training and experience that individuals frequently call andortextmessage each other regarding criminal activity during andorafter and event has occurredYour Affiant is also aware that a high percentage of the population regularly uses and carries acellular phone with them during their day to day activities When cell phones make a call orreceive a call they will register with a cellular tower in the geographical area ofthe crime YourAffiant is aware that there are many cell phone providers and resellers of cell phones YourAffiant is aware that all ofthese cell phones operate on four major cell phone networks in theState of Minnesota These networks are Verizon SprintTMobile and ATTYourAanthas spoken to ATTATTdid tell your Affiant that they are able to provide LawEnforcement records ofall cell phones that registered with ATTtowers in a certain locatian ata certain time ATTcalls thisacellular tower dump

The Affiant is aware that often information is exchanged via cellular telephone calls and textmessages that will show a particular person has or has not had contact with specific persons TheAffiant is also of the belief that a review and analysis oftext messages and call detail recordsregarding the individuals involved in this incident may in fact assist in corroborating or refutinginformation involved in this investigation The Affiant is also aware that the data sought maygenerate additional information thatmay be used as investigative leads to gather furtherinformation related to this investigation TheAfant is also aware that cellular telephonerecords can often verify the particular cellular telephone tower that the telephone wascommwucating with and therefore establish that a person is neaz a specific location at a specifictime

Your Affiant is aware thatATTis a foreign corporation located outside the State ofMinnesotain the State of Florida Your Affiant is awaze that the Court has jurisdiction to issue a MinnesotaState search wazrant for records held by the above corporation pursuant to Minnesota Statestatute 62618subd 22which allows a search warrant for records that are in actual coristructivepossession ofa foreign corporation that provides electronic cammunication services or remotecomputing services to the general public where those records would reveal the identity ofthecustomers using those services data stored by or on behalfof the customer the customersusage of those services the recipient or destination ofcommunications sent to or from thosecustomers or the content ofthose messages
