1 Introduction

This document describes the licensing tool for the SealSign product suite and each of its options from both graphical as well as command line user interfaces.

This document is valid for any product in the SealSign suite, hence valid for:

SealSign DSS

SealSign BSS

SealSign TSA

SealSign CKC

SealSign DSR

SealSign BAS

In other words, while “SealSign DSS” figures herein as the product, this document is nevertheless applicable to the remaining products in the SealSign suite mentioned above



2 SealSign Licenses Administration - Options

The "Administración de Licencias de SealSign" (SealSign License Administration) tool is located in the Control Panel. With an operating system of Windows 2008 or greater, the SealSign License Administration tool is under the Programs category in the Control Panel.

The tool appears as follows:

The interface is characterized by the different options available regarding licenses. Namely:

Activar (Activate): If a license is in an evaluation period or has expired, the "Activar" (Activate) button will be enabled. Pressing this button will launch the License Activation Wizard (described further below). Once the product has been activated, the license will be associated with the system's hardware and can no longer be used on another equipment in any manner.

Desactivar (Deactivate): An activated license can be deactivated for migration to another system, server reinstallation or any other reason. This option will deactivate the product locally and notify the server to release the given license. The license will thus be released so that it can be reused in any other system.



Reactivar (Reactivate): A deactivated license can be reactivated in the same system by simply using the option to reassociate the license with the local system. Once concluded, the license will be associated with the system's hardware again and can no longer be used on another system in any manner.

Comprobar (Check): This option runs an online check for the status of the license on the SmartAccess servers.

Refrescar (Refresh): This option reloads the current license page.

Visor de Licencias (License Viewer): This is a window containing more detailed information about the license and its status (hardware association codes, last online verification, etc.).



3 Activating Licenses

3.1 Internet License Activation

Once installed on a server, the SealSign product must be activated within 90 days. The administrator can activate the product via internet by taking the following steps:

1. Start the "Administración de Licencias de SealSign" (SealSign License Administration) tool located in the Control Panel. With an operating system of Windows 2008 or greater, the SealSign License Administration tool is under the Programs category in the Control Panel. The following screen will appear:

2. Click on the "Activar" (Activate) button, select the "Tengo un número de serie y quiero activar SealSign Server" (I have a serial number and want to activate SealSign Server) option, and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button:

3. Select the "Activación en línea" (Online Activation) option and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button:

4. Fill in the fields "número de serie, nombre/empresa y correo electrónico" (serial number, name/company and email) and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button. Entering a correct email address is essential for receiving future updates and product news:

5. Click on the link in the "Activación en línea" (Online Activation) window for editing proxy parameters, if necessary, and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button:

6. In the results window, click on the "Adelante" (Next) button:

7. If activation is successful, the change will appear on the "Administración de Licencia de SealSign" (SealSign License Administration) tab as shown in the following screenshot:

3.2 Email or Fax License Activation

If the system is not connected to the Internet, the administrator can still activate the license via email or fax. Proceed as follows to do so:

1. Start the "Administración de Licencias de SealSign" (SealSign License Administration) tool located in the Control Panel. With an operating system of Windows 2008 or greater, the SealSign License Administration tool is under the Programs category.

2. Click on the "Activar" (Activate) button.

3. Select the "Tengo un número de serie y quiero activar SealSign Server" (I have a serial number and want to activate SealSign Server) option, and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button.

4. Select the desired activation type.

5. Fill in the fields "número de serie, nombre/empresa y correo electrónico" (serial number, name/company and email) and then click on the "Adelante" (Next) button.

6. This will generate a fax or email similar to the following:

7. Send the email or fax as pertinent and click on the "Adelante" (Next) button. In response, you will receive 2 unblocking keys for the activation.

8. After receiving the response, return to the wizard by clicking on the "Activar" (Activate) button in the "Administración de Licencias de SealSign" (SealSign License Administration) tool.

9. The Activation Wizard will now require an "clave de activación" (activation key), which should have been sent via email or fax:

10. Enter each "clave de activación" (activation key) sent in response to the request one at a time and then click on the "Aplique la Clave" (Apply Key) button for each one.

11. After entering the keys, click on " Adelante" (Next).

12. If the activation is successful, the change will appear reflected in the "Licenciamiento" (Licensing) tab.



4 Deactivating Licenses

This process requires Internet connection. The administrator can deactivate the product by taking the following steps:

5 Reactivating Licenses

This process requires Internet connection. The administrator can reactivate the product by taking the following steps:

6 Checking the License Status

This process requires Internet connection. The administrator can check the status by taking the following steps:

2. Click on the "Comprobar" (Check) button to initiate the checking process. Once checked, a message similar to the following will appear if the status is correct:

An error message will appear instead of the above message if an error occurs during the check or if the license is incorrect.



7 Displaying the license viewer

The administrator can view detailed information on the status of the license by taking the following steps:

2. Click on the "Visor de Licencia" (License Viewer) button to initiate the process. A window similar to the following will appear:

This window lets administrators apply activation keys, view the license code associated with the system hardware (13), the applied activation key, license file date and other relevant ElevenPaths data.



8 Command Line License Management

The command line examples below are using the following cases:

In the %WINDIR%\Syswow64 directory for a 64-bit system or the %WINDIR%\System32 directory for a 32-bit system

The examples were made with the license file "SealSignDSS.lic", which pertains to the SealSignDSS Service product (Electronic Signature) in the SealSign suite. These examples are applicable to the remaining products in the SealSign suite as mentioned in the introduction of this document.

Viewing the License Status SealSignADM.exe -p -l SealSignDSS.lic

Activating Licenses SealSignADM.exe -a -e [email protected] -s XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX -l SealSignDSS.lic

Deactivating Licenses SealSignADM.exe -x -l SealSignDSS.lic
