Sujaya English Active Learning (SEAL) The first edition of LEAP- Learn Explore and Play, held at AB Goregaokar English School in November, saw enthusiastic participation from all our SEAL centres in Mumbai. HMs and senior staff members from our partner centres in Sillod (Aurangabad), Sangli and Nanded also came down for the event. The event saw a total of 70 children participate in competitions like Elocution, JAM, Grammar Quiz and workshops like Art, Dance and Story-telling Conducted for the students of our Dadar centre, this free check up by Dr. Batra’s Foundation in December included Recurrent URTI, Recurrent Tonsillitis, Allergic colds, Atopic dermatitis- skin condition, issues of lowered immunity and weight gain. The cases which require a follow up were given access to the free clinic held by the Foundation. We kick started the training for our new SEAL Teachers for the next academic year in January. 4 bright and enthusiastic graduates, hired locally are undergoing on the job training at our Sangli, Sillod, Goregaon and Aurangabad SEAL centres End of Year Level testing is currently underway for all the centres across Maharashtra and Telangana Empower Youth As part of the Employer Connect Program, Tanushree and Nikhita from Karvy Group, and Vishal, Kartik and Jennifer from Deutsche Bank interacted with the students. They explained employers’ expectations from prospective employees, taught them Excel and helped them enhance their resumes. Computer and English Immersion Programs were conducted in both centres as well. In addition to these programs a session on Career Counseling organised by ‘The Ink Image’ was held at the Chembur Centre. The SEAL Team conducted mock interviews at the Bandra Centre. 15 typing tests which include many new special characters have been uploaded on our Typing Master. This has been included as part of the program across all centres for both, the Computer Program and the ELP. Inspector Vishal Jadhav of the Anti Terrorism Squad conducted an informative awareness session about the various terrorist elements in society. Keeping today’s youth in mind, he explained how these negative elements may try to lure them into drug addiction and urged the youth to report any such suspicious activities. A B Goregaokar English School
As a part of teachers’ training for SEAL, the English
teachers at AB Goregaokar English School started taking
a SEAL class once a month. The idea is to empower the
teachers with the best pedagogical practices required
to conduct full-fledged SEAL classes going forward. Our
SEAL Teacher Kalpesh is sharing his lesson plans with
them for the time being.

Empower Youth Centre in Focus
Computer Program, Bandra
One of our students at the Bandra centre, Rahul
Mishra, has successfully landed a part-time job at a
law firm in Dadar as a Business Executive, drawing a
salary of INR 7,000 per month while simultaneously
working towards his B.Com degree at Chetana
College. Rahul, the son of an auto-rickshaw driver
and a resident of Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Bandra East
was a part of the STeP Program (Smile Twin e-
learning Program), and was looking for a part-time
job. He was sent by us for the interview at the law
firm, for which he underwent rigorous training. The
position requires an understanding of computers,
good typing speed and knowledge of conversational
English.
Jumble Sale
In order to provide the students with practical
experience in Retail Marketing, a jumble sale was
organized and managed independently by the
students of the Bandra centre (BECC). Clothes were
donated by the staff and their friends and families
for the sale. The involvement of the neighborhood
community made the sale a great success. The sale
proceeds that amounted to Rs. 24,155/- were
donated for the treatment of a boy suffering from
TB.
Kahani Tree Story Bag
The children of our SEAL centre at ZP Sillod were in for a
big surprise when one of our team mates, Tanya Bharda
gifted them the Kahani Tree story bag which consists of
150 Marathi and English story books. Sillod is a village 60
km from Aurangabad.

What’s new! Our erstwhile Youth Program has undergone a branding revamp. It is now called Empower Youth and
includes Experiential Learning Program (ELP), Computer Program and the English Immersion Program. Also, both
our programs –Empower Youth and SEAL now have brand new logos
