geT oFF Me, he Said In what many consider one of the top postseason runs in NFLhistory, Marshawn Lynch’s 67-yard touchdown run vs. the NewOrleans Saints in the 2010 NFC Wild Card Game (1/8/11) didmore than just give the Seahawks a 41-30 lead late in the fourthquarter to help seal the game. His run, in which he broke free from eight Saints defendersand tossed Tracy Porter with a stiff-arm, registered seismic activ-ity near CenturyLink Field on one of the Pacific Northwest SeismicNetwork’s monitoring stations. The station that picked up the tremors is mostly used formonitoring a two-level viaduct highway that runs along theSeattle waterfront and its seawall. In an eerily similar run at Arizona (12/21/14), Lynch recordeda career-long run, and fourth-longest in club history, a 79-yarder,bouncing Patrick Peterson and Rashad Johnson off himself enroute to the endzone.

ViRginia MaSon aThleTiC CenTeR The Seattle Seahawks announced the completion of theVirginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) as the project was com-pleted on-time with the first Seahawks employees staffing thebuilding on August 4, 2008 after spending 22 years in Kirkland. The state-of-the-art training facility is located on LakeWashington and is more than 225,000 sq. ft., second largest inthe NFL. The site is bounded by Interstate 405 to the east, LakeWashington to the west, residential properties to the north andopen land to the south. The building sits on 19-waterfront acres, compared to 10 acres in Kirkland. VMAC was designed as a year-round training facility andsuperior work environment for Seahawks players, coaches andstaff. The first class facility features approximately 50,000 sq. ftof training space including: brand new weight and training equip-ment, 146-person auditorium and a locker room with 80 customlockers. A 30-foot training pool is equipped with the ability tovideo tape the players rehabbing while in the water, allowing fora more effective and efficient workout. VMAC also features a player lounge which will allow playersto relax in between practices and meetings. The lounge includesa projection television with XBOX, music ports and computers tocheck email and other web sites. The move was necessary to accommodate growth in several

key business segments. The new facility has tripled the floorspace and provides increased production capacity. VMAC willallow the organization to work under one roof as the Kirklandfront office, Corporate Partnerships, Marketing, Ticketing, Suitesand Fan Development are housed in Renton. The building is equipped with a permanent indoor practicefacility, an amenity that lacked at the Kirkland facility. The prac-tice facility is more than 88,000 sq. ft. and 112 ft. high (95 ft.clear). The playing surface is the identical FieldTurf that is used atCenturyLink Field. VMAC will also feature three regulation sizeoutdoor grass fields, and fans will be able to watch the teampractice during training camp in 2015. Football Operations and team practices began on Monday,August 18, 2008.
