The deflection of VITRABOND panel under load is demonstrated by the following charts. The charts are developed to show the amount of spacing between supports running lengthwise to the panel in comparison to the panel deflection. Deflections in excess of 51 mm (2") are not allowed as this may stress the aluminium skin beyond tolerance limits.
VITRABOND panels can be stiffened by various means to resist wind loads and reduce panel deflection. All stiffeners should be a maximum of 600mm apart.

10.1 CUTIING VITRABOND panel can be cut with a wall-saw, circular saw, bandsaw or jigsaw.
The requirements for a ci rcular saw are as follows:
10.2 CONTOUR CUTIING VITRABOND panel can be contour cut with water jets, CNC machines, copy routers and jigsaws.
10.3 ROUTING I FOLDING VITRABOND panel can be cold shaped, enabling it to form various shapes and sizes. A rectangular or V-shaped groove can be routered on the back of the panel,
. following potential fold lines. A th in layer should remain at the base of the groove. The panel can then be hand folded along this groove, creating a precise and even fold. The outer radius of the fold can be determined by the shape and width of the routered groove.
There must be between 0.3mm and 0.5mm of core material left at the base of the routed groove. Too much material can cause delamination at the corner and result in a larger radius fold than desi red.

10.5 PUNCHING The punching of flat formed parts from VITRABOND is performed the same way as solid aluminium sheeting , using sharp tools and dies with minimal cutting clearance. Varying shapes may easily be punched with normal aluminium punching machinery. As with shearing, a slight roll down may occur.
10.6 ROLL BENDING VITRABOND panel can be bent with a roll-bending machine. Use polished rollers free of imperfections only.
10.7 SCREWING Vitrabond can be screwed with conventional stainless steel or galvanised screws for wood and metal. For outdoor use allow for thermal expansion.
1 0.8 RIVETING Riveting is possible with the usual equipment and solid rivets or bl ind rivets. For outdoor use allow for thermal expansion .

10.9 DRILLING VITRABOND panel can be drilled with centre point twist drills normally used for aluminium and plastics or machines common for metals. Dri ll material: High-Speed Steel (HSS)
10.10 BENDING Bending is possible with a folding table or brake press. The inside bending radius is roughly 1 o times the VITRABOND panel thickness. Use protective foils. There is more spring-back effect than with solid aluminium sheet. For serial production tests should be made on sample panels.
1 0.11 GLUING Usual metal adhes ives or double sided VHB tape should be used. There is low adhesion to the plastic core.
11.0 EDGE CLOSE-OUT & TREATMENT DETAILS VITRABOND panel edges can be closed out as below details.

The VITRABOND installation details are provided for conceptual purposes only. These are not the only methods that can be used to attach VITRABOND, nor can th ey be used generically without consideration for each individual application . Good design engineering may preclude the choice of details used.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES • All sheets should be instal led in the same direction as marked on the protective film to prevent possible fin ish variation • As minor colour variation can occur between production lots, it is recommended to place total requirement for a project in one order to
ensure colour consistency. • Where aluminium materials come in contact with dissimilar metals, a proper insulator or caulking tape should be appl ied to insulate
between the dissimilar materials to avoid corrosive and electrolytic action. • For Cassette Fix, the bend-in portions between panel joints should not be caulked before strippable film is removed.
SEA00014623_0032 SEA00014623/32
13.1 PROTECTIVE FILM • Make sure there is no risk of any ki nd of damage to the material that may take place on the job site
prior to removal of the film. • Remove protective fi lm immediately after instal lation to avoid glue residuals on panel surface due to
UV radiation. • Do not stick, put or apply PVC tapes, polyurethane sealant and modified Silicone sealant onto
VITRABOND protective film. The plasticizer contained in these materials can penetrate the protective
film and cause a gloss change in the coati ng.
13.2. HANDLING AND STORAGE • Considerable care should be taken in the handling of VITRABOND. • VITRABOND panels are sensitive to impact, particularly shocks from small, hard objects, which can
dent the aluminium cover sheet. • A minimum of two people should be used when sliding large sheets to avoid scratch ing. • To prevent surface damage when stacking VITRABOND, there shou ld be nothing between the panels. • VITRABOND shou ld be stored in a cool and dry area where temperature is relatively stable. • Pallets of VITRABOND should be stored horizontally with adequate support to prevent sagging
• Stacked pallets should be identically sized and not more than six (6) pal lets high.
13.3 RECYCLING All VITRABOND ACP is 100% recyclable.

4.3 The substrate to which the cladding panel is fixed should be watert, ight and resistant to the transmission of heat and sound. '
4.4 Where insulation (not covered by this Certificate) is provided behind the cladding panels, it should be suitably fixed to the supporting wall, and protected, to resist the forces of wind suction. Insulation should be of a rigid type (eg • boards or bats). The ventilation gap behind the cladding must not be allowed to become blocked, or the insulation dislodged, where it may be vulnerable to wetting.
4.5 To allow for longitudinal expansion, a gap of between 3 mm and 4 mm per metre length between adjacent support rails should be provided. The cladding panels must not be installed across this gap.
4.6 All design aspects of the method of fixing should be checked by a :suitably qualified chartered engineer or other appropriately qualified person. Specific construction details, eg flue pen, etrations, can be obtained from the Certificate holder. .
5 Practicability of installation The panels are suitable for installation by cladding contractors provided Jhey have undergone suitable training by the Certificate holder (see section 1 1 ). The Certificate holder can provide asJvice on installation if required.

Generic Facts
TM
For external installation of Vitrabond™ with rivets or low profile head facade screws, the thermal expansion must be taken into consideration. The hole in the Vitrabond™ panel must be larger than the fixing to allow for movement. The Vitrabond™ thermal extend coefficient is (mm/mfOC) 0.024.
Calculation of the temperature difference must be based on the anticipated minimum and maximum temperatures of the Vitrabond™ panel when exposed to the extreme climatic conditions at the site of the installed panels. A white Vitrabond™ panel in a hot environment would reach up to 50°C in direct sunlight, whereas a dark coloured panel in the same conditions could reach to 80°C.
I
Rivet Fix When using a 4.8 x 11~m/n rivet (aluminium body/steel mandrel), the hole diameter in the Vitrabdnd™ should be ?mm, and the diameter of the hole in the substructure should be 5mm. Therefore it is recommended that a step drill is used with the depth stop set to the thickness of the Vitrabond™ panel.
For an aluminium support system which is in direct contact with the Vitrabond™ panel (no thermal isolator used), the difference in temperature between the two materials would not exceed 1 0°C. Consequently a reduced allowance for thermal expansion in the direction of the carrier system of 0.24mm/1 m length can be made, but the traverse expansions is to be taken into account fully.' Rivet heads must have a minimum of 1 mm overlap onto the Vitrabond™ panel, and must be concentrically positioned.
An adapter must be used on the riveter to allow 0.3mm tolerancE? between the Vitrabond™ panel face and the rivet head. This is to prevent the panel being 'pinched' too tightly, therbfore not allowing the Vitrabond1
M to move, and pulling in the face of the panel causing unsightly denting of the qUrface.
