The Wandering Albatross • The worlds largest flying bird, the

Wondering Albatross, has a wingspan of about 11ft!

Diving Birds

• Some seabirds dive in the water to catch there prey. Seabirds like the Common Loon dive down for minutes at a time searching for unlucky organisms.

Smart Birds

• Some birds such as the Gull, are very smart. They like to eat clams and other shellfish. But there is a small problem, the shell. For Gulls though that is not a problem! They simply pick up the shellfish and constantly drop it onto a rock until the shell breaks.

Small Seabirds

• Some of the smallest seabirds are the Storm Petrels. The Petrels can weigh as much as half an ounce! The Storm Petrels eat tiny organisms on the surface of the water.

Penguins

• Penguins are seabirds. No, they cannot fly but they are excellent swimmers. Some species of Penguins can dive as much as 870 feet!

Beak Size

• There are many different sizes of beaks. Some have long, needle like beaks for holding small and slippery fish. A short Round beak is useful for scooping up small animals. There is also a slightly curved beak which is like a mix of the long and short beaks, and is good for catching just about anything!

Big Beak• There is a bird named the Skimmer that’s

lower beak is actually bigger than the top. The bird skims across the ocean with its beak in the water skimming for any organisms that get in, and that’s where it gets its name from.

Unique Food Chains

The water plants go through photosynthesis

using the sun light to produce energy

The Pelicans eat the fish that swim in the sea’s.

The Bald Eagle

The Bald Eagle is a sea bird, but its much more than that. The Bald Eagle is the symbol for this great country. It is a symbol for hope and peace, it is our national bird. In this country it is illegal to kill Bald Eagles.
