Actors Names

Credits

7 deadly sins

The background colour is black and this represents death and evil. It is considered as the negation of colour, black is conservative, goes well with almost any colour except the very dark. It also has conflicting connotations. It can be serious and conventional.

The colour of the title is red and it catches your attention as soon as you look at the poster. The colour red suggests. Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red brings text and images to the foreground

The facial expressions of the actors indicates to us that there is something serious is going on

The age rating is 18. I personally agree with this because of the levels of nudity, language , violence and profanity .

MAGAZINE COVER ANALYSIS

Title of the magazine

The name of the film being promoted

The movie tagline Barcode

The main characters in the film . There is also a clear indication that Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are starring in the film.

The fact that title is bright captures the attention of the reader and to add emphasis it is in capitals

The stars are placed in the centre of the magazine but their names are not present on the magazine

The way that the actors are pictured makes it clear to us that something serious has occurred or is about to happen

There is no complexity as to how the magazine cover is laid out and its very easy for the reader to navigate because the layout is organised

HOW DOES THE TRAILER START ?

These pictures were taken from the first 19 seconds of the trailer. As you can see the studio/ production logo is present.

THRILLER

The conventions that make it clear to us that this trailer falls under the thriller category is that they take place in ordinary suburbs / cities, people get involved in twisted

relationships, terrorism, stalkers , innocent victims, menaced women, romantic love triangles and overlapping

mystery stories . The music used in thrillers is usually tense. The music will start off slow and then the pace will quicker and become more dramatic at the climax of the

shot. Costumes usually casual so mysterious characters can fit in with the rest of the characters. Props are usually in form of clues, murder weapons or guns used by agents in

the thriller trailer.

GRAPHICS AND TYPOGRAPHY

The seven deadly sins are shown at 2mins 08 seconds of the trailer. They are shown in a red font . I believe that the red font indicates fire and blood. The colour is also associated with energy, war, and danger. The colour red brings the text and images to the foreground .

The stars are highlighted with a close up of themselves and then a voiceover indicating who they are.

EDITING

Jump cuts become a commonality during this thriller . This is usually because multiple things are happening that we are unaware of an the jump cuts fill us in, they allow us as the audience to make

assumptions on what the story or characters will be like . The cutting rate of the jumps seems to increase which ultimately seems

to lead to a miniature climax of the introduction.

CAMERA SHOTS

Tracking and panning shots are commonly used in the beginning and throughout thriller films, especially a certain person (in the

film) we should be interested in as an audience. Framing shot is one of the most typical shots used in this thriller and to build suspense and mystery in the beginning . High angle shots are portrayed to

show those in a powerful position. There seems to be a main character in the beginning who seems to have a lot of power and

these are shown through camera shots.

EDITING AND CAMERA SHOTS

The sound was non diegetic music playing in the background creating a sound bridge to create a certain atmosphere . There is use of dialogue but not that that

much . This usually gives us (audience) an insight to the characters motives or their relationships with other

characters in the film. Silence is a key technique used in thrillers. This is very thought provoking and does help build

up tension , which seems to be a strong convention for thriller films.
