SDC’s Application Sizing Approach

Application/Database

Required Information or data for Sizing

Oracle AWR Report from existing Oracle environment

SAP SAP Survey Form

Exchange Exchange Survey Form (and Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Role Requirements Calculator if ATC has)

Data Collection Requirement

Data Data Collection or Information CollectionAWR report from Oracle 1. For each production database instance we would like a set of 48 to 96 reports where

each report is generated on a 30 or 60 minute snapshot or sample interval. (I.e., 48 to 96 individual files per database instance where each file contains one sample 30 or 60 minute interval report.)

2. The following AWR or Statspack reports are requested: 1) A total of 48 to 96 30-minute or 1 hour Statspack or AWR reports capturing peak

activity. 2) Shorter time intervals and more reports are fine. 3) Make the best attempt to identify the peak activity periods for the reports: 4) Including prime heavy usage business hours timeframes 5) Including batch processing timeframes

3. If you are generating AWR reports, please generate them in TXT format, not HTML. 4. If this is a RAC environment, then reports are requested for each instance in the RAC

cluster. 5. Create an individual .ZIP file with the AWR/Statspack text files for each database

and with RAC all instances of a database in one .ZIP file.

SAP Survey Form Proposed array type, SAP Landscapes including Modules, SAPS or Host IOPS, and DB size (Yearly Growth), Landscape Diagram or SAP early Watch Report.

Exchange Survey Form Users Profile, High Availability Architecture, Backup Configuration, Storage Architecture, Site Resilience Configuration, Network.

SQL Survey Form 1. Application Layer: Version Release, number of users, IO size, W/R ratio, IOPS2. SQL: version, release, DB Size, monthly growth3. Server information (model, number of CPU and memory size)4. Storage information (Array type, and disk type)

NAR (together with device list) from CLARiiON, VNX

1. Data needs to be collected over a 3 to 5 day peak processing period2. Collect workload data for each frame in the solution with hosts attached.3. Data needs to be collected in 2, 5 or 10-minute interval, and each file must contain

24 or 26 hours worth of data.4. Do not combine multiple days into a single file.

WLA (btp file) data (together with bin and device list) from DMX, VMAX or VMAXe

1. Data needs to be collected over a 3 to 5 day peak processing period2. Collect workload data for each frame in the solution with hosts attached.3. Must be collected in 5 or 10 minute intervals, and each file must contain 24 hours

worth of data.4. Do not combine multiple days into a single file.
