As I sit here composing this

newsletter for this month, I have just returned from attending another Funeral service for one of our Ma-rine life members. We have had 6 members pass this year, and the Detachment has rendered the Marine Corps League Funeral Ceremony to each. These Ma-rines had service from WWII, Korea to Vietnam, in places like Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Chosen Reservoir, DaNang, and Hue. These are iconic places and bat-tles in Marine Corps history. As I thought about this, I thought how sad it was that these Marines took their stories with them, never to be heard by us. I consider it a great honor to have given our respect for our brother Marines, by performing the MCL ritual. Those members that attended to be part of the cere-mony, I am sure feel the same way. It is the duty of all MCL members to help honor these deceased Ma-rines. Find the time to attend one of these ceremonies next time when the call goes out and I think you will be hooked, when you see the gratitude of the deceased Marines family for us doing the Honoring. Many things are going on this month within the Detachment. They are listed within this newslet-ter. Next month is just as busy, and with spring around the corner, it wont be long before Parades will be starting. And dont forget the BBQs and Pancake Breakfasts, all a great time to gain the great-est thing your membership provides, camaradie with your brother Marines. Speaking of Spring it is time to get the Color Guard for thed Detachment up and running. Anyone interested in becoming a member of this group, con-tact Jesus Quintana, or Master Guns Lund.
