SCULPTURE FROM FIVE CENTURIES

March 5th – April 18th, 2009

Shepherd & Derom Galleries presents our first exhibition of sculp-ture in association with Philip Mezzatesta Fine Art. Mezzatestastudied art history at Columbia University and at the University ofSt. Andrews, Scotland. For the last twelve years he directed majorgalleries here in New York City as a specialist in Renaissance andBaroque sculpture. We welcome him as an independent dealer.

Philip Mezzatesta’s expertise in Renaissance and Baroque sculpturecomplements our own expertise in late 18th-century to early 20th-century European sculpture. Highlights include Eve, a polychromelimewood standing sculpture created by an artist working in the cir-cle of Gregor Erhart (c.1465-1540) for an altarpiece in theKreuzkirche in Ansbach, and Apollo, a bronze statue by FrançoisDuquesnoy (1597-1643).
