Transcript
Premise Humanity has fallen under siege by the power of flesh-eating demons. An impulsive fighter, Orisa,
and her little sister, Feyre, return home to discover their father slaughtered and their
brother captured. They must venture into the twisted world riddled with blood and fire.
Logline
Within a twisted world of flesh-eating demons, two sisters must fight to save their brother, avenge their father and face the depths of
darkness.
Dramatic Questions • Will Orisa and Feyre find their brother? • What is humanity willing to sacrifice to
survive? • What has awakened in Orisa?

Synopsis
Blood work is a serialised nine-hour dark fantasy series that explores the thin line between light and darkness.
In a land of flesh-eating demons that regenerate limbs almost instantly, morality is a weakness. In order to survive, humanity has learned to adapt by
any means necessary. Ranging from sacrificing their youth, to infusing their own blood with fire and swords to subdue the ruthless beasts.
After hundreds of dark years, a rare power awakens in an impulsive fighter after her younger sister is put in danger. A vicious fire that fills her muscles
with strength. Following the slaughter of their father, and the mysterious capture of their brother, they set off on a journey of discovery and dusk.
A city in the heart of the Ishtar have discovered an old ritual that infuses blood with fire that inflict damage onto the demons. Attempting to keep the darkness
away. The chief rules over the city and ensures the safety of his citizens. However, his curious son learns a dark truth. In order to keep the city safe, the chief is sacrificing orphans and daily scouts, to maintain the demon’s thirst for
human flesh.
The chief’s son must stop his father, and the demons from using the citizens like cattle. Hope overcomes him as he learns of a demon slayer travelling
through Ishtar.
In this land, being a predator is a matter of perspective. You can never be too careful, too fast or too strong. There’s always someone better.
History Dates are defined by before and after the great collapse. Demons infested the continent 500 years ago, and laid waste to the land. Destroying all the great
texts, and advancements that humanity made, forcing them back into the dark ages.
Before the collapse (BTC) and after the collapse (ATC).
The original demons that infested lands specifically targeted masters in specific fighting styles to secure their survival.
Leaving humanity hopeless.
Statement of Intent Evil takes many forms.
As history has shown us, humans are fully capable of executing profoundly immoral acts. We’re quick to paint these people as monsters/demons.
Separating mankind from their choices. Even creating films and series on their actions. Darkness can be fascinating, and yet so terrifying.
But we often use sacrifice as an excuse for immoral acts. Using nuclear warfare to save the nation. A catastrophic sacrifice justified by ensuring our
survival. Are the lives of the many worth the lives of a few?
Blood work explores this theory, by demonstrating the extent of human determination and sacrifice. Questioning, what are we willing to sacrifice to
survive?
Blood work drags humanity back into the dark ages. Which can be seen in two lights.
A step backwards in evolution and technological advancements. But a step forward in communication and interaction.
Forcing everyone to rely on eachother for help, guidance and support. Compared to our current society, which causes us to look towards gadget and
greed for validation.
Wooden shacks, and cabins, however, cannot protect them through intruders lurking outside.
Rules of the world Demons have overpowered society with their raw strength and lack of
empathy for human life. Humans are merely cattle for them, a sentient food source that has no choice but roll over to their commands.
Magic is called rituals, and only skilled healers and scholars can use these rituals. There’s an emphasis on blood in this world. The liquid that defines souls. Red flames are the most common ritual. It keeps demons away, is fire
mixed with the blood of life.
Red flames specifically damage tier ones, and tier twos. While revealing shapeshifters if they get close. The elite aren’t affected by the red flames,
because of how powerful they are.
The Economy Due to the time era, and state of the world. Humans trade food for help, but in
the city, there is a currency of silver coins.
Demons Demons are devilish creatures, that act on impulse and hunger. They’re
immortals and have lived for many generations.
Demons have tiers…
1. New-borns – Reckless and led by hunger 2. Shapeshifters – can disguise themselves as humans – cunning
3. Shadow jumpers – Are able to blend within darkness 4. The Elite – Have unique abilities that fit with their personality.
Demons can only be killed by destroying the heart. They can regrow limbs almost instantly, and draining blood has no effect on them.
Due to the raw strength that demon have, humans haven’t been able to defeat demons easily, if they do, they’re highly trained or pure luck.
This is because of how fast and animalistic these demons are.
After a demon consumes human flesh, they grow stronger, physically and mentally. As the narrative progresses, we learn that not all demons are evil,
and can flesh on animal to survive. Human’s are just the tastiest.
Elite ghouls are more complicated and they’re 30x faster than tier one’s. Some have more than one heart, and most of them can move the location of their
hearts.
Transitioning To transition into a demon, a powerful/elite demon must offer his flesh to a human. After this, the human must feast upon another human, in order to
become a demon.
Tone and Style This series will dive into the grittiness of dark fantasy. Highlighting hellish
fight scenes, and fearful silence.
An epic samurai adventure with a whole lot of blood.
Bloodwork – The infusion of human
blood and demonic blood Demons cannot procreate, however, there has been rare cases. In these rare
cases, a human is born with the capabilities of tapping into their demonic side. Being able to use the raw strength, without the drawbacks of consuming
human flesh.
Orisa, Feyre and Tarquin are the rare cases. Orisa has met her mother once, when the twins were born. This is because, their mother is a demon among the
elite. In order to protect her children, she had to keep her distance, or they would’ve been captured by the demons.
Setting Ishtar – A rural continent, quite European, humans colonised 600 BTC.
Wooden shacks, and stone houses, a lot of greenery. Villages, Towns, Cities, Forests, and Mountains, Maybe a few caves along the way.
The city of flames is the capital.
Not much is known about the outside world, or where the demons come from.
Fighting styles
Katanas, Flails, Swords and bows.
Humans must master multiple types of fighting styles to survive. But, because the demons were quick to destroy dojo’s, and masters of fighting styles, it’s
hard to come by.
Orisa’s father, has trained her in taekwondo and jujitsu. Her father has tried to train her with a katana, but she trusts her flail and it does the job.
The characters personalities will be reflected in their fighting styles.
Demons use their raw strength to perform quick hellish attacks. Using their elongated arms, and powerful legs.
Characters Orisa
19-year-old, Orisa, is well equipped to dance with devils. A natural fighter that enjoys hunting a tad too much. Skilled in a variety of martial arts, and
weaponry. Specialises in using a flail to skilfully outmanoeuvre her opponent. Has a problem with a katana, even after years of training from her father.
Outside of battle, Orisa’s decisions may be quick, and sometimes sharp. But they’re mostly reckless, and not thought out. Not realising the consequences of her actions. Acting on impulse and passion, rather than a planned approach.
She has a bear claw scar running across her body, head to toe.
After her younger sister is almost eaten. A lioness is born. Blood work activates and releases her demonic side. Riddled with anger and grief, Orisa completely
destroys the demon. Scaring her younger sister.
Due to the neglect of her mother, she doesn’t trust women as easily as men. Often seeing them as weak and fragile.
Feyre 13-year-old Feyre, is a wise, silly and thoughtful soul. And a kleptomaniac.
She can hold information effortlessly, and due to her kleptomaniac nature, has stolen a lot of books on useless nonsense, but some are very helpful.
Feyre hunts with her twin brother mostly, specialising in traps and bows. Cannot bring herself to kill anything. She is terrified by demons, but this
quickly changes as she realises how unique demons are. Her kleptomania is a deep-rooted issue, that at its core is a child yearning for some attention from
her family.
Feyre is Orisa’s moral compass, when Orisa makes moral decisions, she confides in her younger sister. In some cases, Feyre is very mature, calm and
collected. But at the root of this forced adolescence.
Tarquin Feyre’s twin, quite introverted with the family, but specialises in hiding and
swift kills. Get’s easily annoyed by his father’s instructions.
Obsessed with wolves, specifically the artic wolf. Has a wooden wolf carved by his mother, that he keeps with him at all times.
Victor
Lives in the city of flames as the chief’s son. Sees the city through rose tinted glasses. His mother was known to do a lot of charity work, looks up to her.
Both skilled in infusion and sword fighting. Known within the city for taking down a demon as a young boy. It was actually his mother after she sacrificed
herself. Personally, does routine checks around the city to check if the red flames are still active.
The chief is preparing him to take control of the city. Victor is ready and determined. But, after finding out that the demons have been working with his father, he uses his connections in the city to find out the truth. Postponing his
transition with excuses and events.
His heart and head face off, after he discovers that the chief has been sacrificing citizens in order to protect the kingdom from demons.
On one hand, the public are being used as cattle and orphans are being killed left right and centre. But on the other hand, the whole kingdom could
potentially be destroyed by demons.
He hears of a human that has the strength to kill demons with their bare hands. Tries to get a message to them, to help him save the kingdom from the
vast corruption.
After one of the elite demons, reveal their truth strength, his confidence and hopefulness is destroyed by the darkness
. Raymos (Father of Orisa, Feyre and Tarquin)
Stern man in his late forties. Very skilled in martial arts, especially a katana, tries to teach Orisa everything he has learnt. Quite mysterious, puts safety
above everything else, but has a sweet spot for the twins.
A loving father, that shows his kindness through informative anecdotes. He was a great warrior when he was young that fought in the war. Learnt a lot
about shades, and the world. But only tells Orisa what she can handle.
Due to her reckless behaviour, he feeds information slowly, which just frustrates her more.
The Chief Rules over the city of flames like a dictator. Presents himself as pleasant and
kind, but due to being manipulated by the demons, sees humans as weak and feeble. Holding onto a deep grief after losing his wife 9 years ago.
Ell iot Shapeshifting demon that tries to make light of dark situations. His family was
killed by demons, one of the elite demons turned him after he tried to fight them at fourteen.
Wants to kill the demon that turned him. Often shapeshifts to mask his true feelings.
Vowed to never eat a human, after he wiped out an entire village, after he transitioned.
Old Witch – Marge Speaks in riddles and personal anecdotes. Isn’t prone to nurturing, finds children revolting. Made a promise to Raymos to protect the children if
anything happened to him. Comes from a long family of scholars dating back before the collapse. She knows a lot of about history.
Freya – Maid/ Resistance Victors right hand. Practical, and sneaky. She joined the resistance after the
chief’s wife died, because she figured out what the chief was doing.
Vowed to protect Victor at any cost. After Victor’s mother died, she continued teaching him blood infusion techniques.
She has a family in the city, that she keeps hidden.
Structure A procedural/adventure series.
The A story : Orisa and Feyre travel throughout the land, stopping at villages/towns/castles to gather information about the whereabouts of
Tarquin. Conflict is introduced. They have to come up with a way to resolve the problem.
The B story: The relationships within the city, Victor trying to save the citizens from within. The sisters actions impact the city.
Broad Outline of Season One Orisa ventures to the closest village for her family’s weekly supplies. Feyre begs to come along. They return home to find their father slaughtered and their brother captured. A
power awakens within Orisa, allowing her to defeat a demon.
Meanwhile, in the city of flames, the chief’s son trains his swordsmanship skills, and enhancements. Infusing his blood with a sword, in order to defeat demons. Scouts, and
children keep going missing, the chief’s son takes it upon himself to figure out the mystery.
Due to the high stress of blood work (Orisa’s new power) she passes out. She awakens in an old cabin. The old witch, Marge, saved Feyre and Orisa from the angry villagers and was
instructed to protect them if anything bad happened. Orisa vows to save her brother. Orisa and Feyre set off without any experience of the outside world.
The chiefs son figures out that demons have been killing the scouts, and capturing the children. The chief tells him to stop searching for answers and sends him on a scouting
mission.
The sisters come across multiple demons, and a variety of different villages doing anything to survive. And Orisa’s strength grows as she slowly learns how to control this fierce power.
While hunting demons, the sisters realise theyre also getting hunted. They meet a shapeshifting demon that only feeds on small animals. And wants to take down the elite demons, for destroying his family. Initially they don’t trust him, but he tells them that
Tarquin is in the city of flames.
The chief’s son questions his father’s choices as he silences the whispers of a demon slayer within the city. He learns that his father is working for the demons and sacrificing the
citizens for the price of survival.
Orisa is captured by a shadow jumper. Feyre and Elliot sneak into the shadow jumpers fortress and attempt to save her. In a epic fight, Elliot jumps in front of Feyre to save her. Which awakens the blood work within her. She takes control of the shadow jumper by
manipulating his blood. But she passes out before striking his heart. Orisa finishes him off.
Victor joins a resistance group to overthrow his father, and try to find the demons. He meets a sneaky assassin that teaches him how to infuse blood with pieces of Armor.
Victor comes face to face with an Elite demon that manipulates gravity. He kills the entire resistance group, and reminds him to be a good little boy, like his mother was.
His father sent him.
Before entering the city of flames, Feyre, Elliot and Orisa come up with a plan to blend in with the locals. They uses the annual festival of the lost to come into the city.
Orisa, Feyre and Elliot learn of a friendly demon. They sneak into her home, its nice. Too nice. The demon comes in, goes to strike the intruders, but stops. It’s their mother.
She stops herself from revealing her identity, as they don’t recognise her.
Season ends with a great battle between, Orisa, Feyre and Elliot against the demons manipulating gravity within the city. He tells them that it’s too late.
Tarquin has turned into a demon, and joined a new pack of wolves. The elite demons.
Episode One – Pilot
Orisa and Tarquin hunt a black bear in a forest as snow covers the landscape. Returning home to be reminded by her father, Raymos, that she needs to go to
the village for supplies. Feyre, her younger sister begs to tag along. Meanwhile, in the city of flames, Victor, the chief’s son, practices his
infusions. He hears whispers of lost scouts and children. He confronts his father and is quickly shut down after reminding him that he will be chief one
day.
Orisa and Feyre return home, and see Tarquin’s wooden wolf. Blood paints the snow outside their cabin. They rush in to find their father slaughtered on the floor. Feyre hides in a cupboard after they hear a flesh-eating demon outside. Orisa picks up her father’s katana and attempts to defeat it. Using footwork,
and dodge to outmanoeuvre the demon. But, it’s raw strength overpowers her and flings her body metres away. Feyre rushes out with Orisa’s flail. After
being struck to the ground, the demon approaches Feyre with hungry eyes. Orisa awakens Blood work to save her sister. Overflowing her muscles with
power, and her mind with rage. She defeats the demon and falls to the ground. A figure rushes to save them.
Episode Two – Step into the void
Orisa wakes up in the old witches cabin. Tarquin’s wooden wolf lays next to her. She freaks out, and scurries outside. Feyre is playing with blood fire with Marge, the old witch. In the city of flames, Victor questions the guards about
the missing scouts, after someone goes missing, he offers his services.
Orisa questions Marge about her help. Their father, Raymos, asked her to look after them if anything happened. Orisa assumes both her father and brother
have been killed. Feyre tells her that hes not dead. Twin bond.
The chief refuses to let Victor go on a scouting mission. Orders the maid to take him into his room to practice his sword fighting.
While Feyre helps Marge make dinner, Orisa looks back at what she turned into. Marge tells her what blood work is, and why it’s so important to the
demons. Orisa vows to save her brother, and gets prepared to leave.
Victor sneaks out to join the scouting mission, and whitnesses a scout being eaten by a demon. Which reminds him of his mothers sacrifice. He activates
blood infusion on his sword, and defeats the demon.
Orisa and Feyre, set off into the world. Marge tells them to head south, after analysing the demons footprints. Wishes them good fortune.
Episode Three – A child’s cry
