Tool: photo adjustment.

This is the process I leaned so that I could edit the images I used on the cover, contents and double page spread I had to use the edit feature on Photoshop before placing them on the pages.

Once the image is placed onto a new page it is able to edit. By entering image then adjustments menu you are able to change aspects to affect the photo. Hopefully making it more eye-catching and professional for the magazine.

For my cover I didn’t want to over saturate the colour as that is not a convention often seen in rock magazines, so I kept the colours similar to the original. I wanted to make the photo darker so my model looked more dramatic and eye-catching. By increasing the exposure but enhancing the shadow the model stood out from the brick wall and became a main focal point for the page.

This is the final edit for my main image that I have used on the Fret cover. I feel that it is muted to give a casual look, which fits the genre of rock. Bit the higher exposure and shadow ensures my model still stands out.

If I were to change/improve this image I would possibly style my model so that she is even more obviously a rock artist. So that the magazine is not mistaken for urban or a strictly indie pop punk genre magazine.
