Screencast Word Tutorial

Step One: Insert a text box onto your powerpoint slide to give your map a title, and to add any other text including the key, scale, compass rose, and the parts of the map key.

Step Two: Insert many differing shapes to create the square of the map key, as well as the different shapes that will represent the areas of the classroom. Arrange the shapes around the slide in the form of a map of the room, and create a key with smaller correlating shapes and spell out what they are symbolizing in the room.

Step Three: In order to insert any picture onto your slide that cannot be found in the applications clip art, you’ll need to insert a picture. Click on the picture icon at the top of the page, and choose “insert picture”

Next a screen similar to this will appear, and youll need to choose the file of the picture out of the selections on your computer, (what you saved the photo as).

Step Four: After finding appropriate websites to attach to each vocabulary word on the screen (Key, Compass Rose, Scale) apply this step one by one to each word to hyperlink each site to each word. Highlight the text that you want to hyperlink.

Step Five: click the toolbox icon located at the top of the screen

Step Six: When the toolbar pops up after clicking toolbox…

Click the tap labeled Hyperlink (In rose-gold) The option will appear to add a URL to that text through hyperlink.

Fill in the URL of the website you want for that vocabulary word. Repeat this steps for as many words or hyperlinks you’d like to add.
