A message from our Hosting Worshipful Master !! A Master’s Perspective
Having now has the honor to serve as Worshipful Master of Roe Fulkerson Lodge
for the past 9 months, I have learned many valuable lessons, some of which I wish
to share. Much of what follows will come as no surprise to our Past Masters, but for
those ascending the line, I hope to shed some light on your future travels.
The first and most important fact that remains constantly in the forefront of my mind
is that without the support of the Craft there wouldn’t be a Lodge to preside over. I constantly remind myself that if it were not for them, then I would not have the
privilege to sit in the East. My Station is not be taken lightly and I always endeavor
to carry out my work in such a manner that befits the honor bestowed upon me.
Every Officer of the Lodge plays a vital role in the wellbeing of the Lodge, and the
Welfare of the Craft. While this responsibility ultimately falls on the Master, the
labors of the Lodge must and should be divided among those whose Station and
Place dictate his duties. It is incumbent upon all brothers to assist another Brother
when his needs require it.
There is much to be learned from Past Masters, they are my constant source of ad-
vice and help. By drawing on their vast knowledge and experience I have be able to
shortcut my learning curve and have carried out my work in a manner befitting the high standards demanded of me. This however does not mean I have not made mis-
takes, but hopefully, I have kept them to a minimum.
There is much to be learned from our more senior Brethren, I always make the time
to sit and talk with them. They offer wise advice, and interesting accounts of the
past. Their personal histories are as enjoyable to listen to, as any best seller in a li-
brary; and more importantly, they look forward to sharing their stories with us
―youngsters‖.
Like all Lodges, it is a constant struggle to keep attendance up. I personally feel that
it is time to start thinking outside the box. What was considered good entertainment
20-30 years ago might not keep the attention of our younger Brothers. How many
Past Masters had to remind his Brethren to silence their cell phones at the opening of Lodge? Or advised them to check their emails for details of upcoming events?
The times are changing and while we must strictly uphold the tenets, the manner in
which we approach that goal can be changed.
Ritual is one of the most important aspects of our labors. It is this that makes Ma-
sonry what it is today. Ritual is the very first introduction we offer our E.A. candi-
dates, and must be performed with the utmost respect and dignity possible. Our
Lodge prides itself in its high quality of ritual, but this comes at a price…. practice,
practice and practice! I am fortunate to have an exemplary group of Past Masters,
Past D.D.G.Ms., District Instructor, and Chairman of the Committee on Work etc. to
guide and educate our Lodge, but their expertise can be found at the District School
of Instruction every month. It’s there for you; all you have to do is attend. Finally Brothers, it would be remiss of me not to thank, from the bottom of my
heart, every member of the ―Fun 33rd District‖ who I have had the pleasure and
privilege to work with. I have enjoyed every minute of my term, and look forward
to many years ahead of active involvement in the greatest Fraternity in the world.

My Brothers,
At our November meeting we will be taking the nomi-
nations of officers for the coming year and the election will be
in December.
This is our association and we need Brothers in the offices
who are willing to put in the time and commitment needed to
successfully direct this organization. The Treasure and Secre-
tary positions should be considered as a long term positions,
just like in our Lodges. Who among you are willing to fulfill
these responsibilities for the good of the district?
As always, we will close out the year with our Annual Ma-
sonic Home Christmas Party on Saturday, December 11th.
Please try to encourage our new Brothers and Brothers who
have not visited this fine facility to attend. Once again, we will
