Chief Minister “German solutions to Indian Challenges” Indian–German Water Summit 2014 The SCMS Group has been entrusted with drafting the Water Policy for Cochin Municipal Corporation. It is expected to offer scientific and technical tools for addressing water related issues faced by the City. Hon. Chief Minister Mr.Oommen Chandy was brimming with confidence while speaking to the audience at the inaugural function. “It gives me great pleasure to know that Centre for Sustainable Water Technology and Management which is a water technology development and incubation centre, has been established by SCMS group of Educational Institutions. It is heartening to note that this centre of SCMS Group along with Municipal Corporation is in collaboration with the Indian-German water Partnership in the conduct of this summit.” The Chief Minister inaugurated the second Indian-German Water Partnership Summit. The theme of the summit was 'German Solutions to Indian Challenges' on Monday, 6th October 2014 organized in association with SCMS School of Engineering and Technology and Kochi Municipal Corporation. Hon. Chief Minister has emphasized the need for using latest technologies for water conservation and wastewater treatment in the State. Several parts of the State are facing acute drinking water scarcity and clean and safe water is becoming a scarce commodity. This can be addressed with proper technologies. (Sanal sir .... we can put the others name also) Dr.G.P.C.Nayar, Chairman, SCMS Group presided over the inaugural ceremony. “As the Chairman of SCMS Group, I feel contented today to see our Water Institute coordinating this event. CSWTM was established by SCMS group in SSET with a commitment to serve the society and with a vision to be a resource centre in water and waste water management in the country. This water institute is envisaged as a technology incubator, provider and facilitator for finding solutions to the water issues of the country. SCMS water institute already has project collaboration with University of Ravensburg-Weingarten, Germany for establishing centre of competence in water and waste water management at SSET already ranked as one of the top technical education institutions in India,” Dr. Nayar noted in his presidential address. Mr.Jorn Rohde, German Consul General delivered the key note address. Worshipful Mayor of Kochi, Tony Chammany, Ms. Christine von Lonski, Director, GWP and Prof. M.Madhavan participated in the inaugural ceremony. 250 delegates from Germany, other parts of India and Kerala participated in various panel discussions. In the evening, Ms.Bhadra B., Worshipful Deputy Mayor of Kochi attended the valedictory function. Kerala State Productivity Council prize for SCMS The PGDM students secured the third position in the Productivity month Contest for Management students on "Lean Management for Productivity Enhancement" held at Productivity House, Kalamassery. How to make difference as a Manager (HR) National HRD network organized a twin program (Road Show & Monthly Professional Network Meeting) at SCMS Campus on 29/9/2014. The Marketing Forum 'Quintessence' - The Marketing Grid was inaugurated by Mr. Dileep Kumar P.I., Director Sales and Marketing, Crown Plaza. Awarded Doctorate Prof. Srikrishnan S., of SCMS COCHIN School of Business has been awarded Doctorate by Cochin University of Science and Technology for his thesis titled “Software Risk Management in Information Systems Off shoring & Outsourcing” done under the guidance of Dr. M. Bhasi and Dr. K.V.Pramod. German delegation visits SSET An eighteen member team of delegation from University of Applied Sciences Ravensburg – Weingarten, Germany visited SSET campus on 5th October 2014. Kochi: Infosys Limited recently conducted campus placement drive for students of final year undergraduate and post graduate engineering of SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty. A total of 206 students had appeared for the pre- placement talk and thereafter for online screening exam consisted of two parts - quantitative aptitude and verbal reasoning. 119 students got eligibility. A total of 100 students were finally selected and given offer letters. Infosys offers jobs to 100 students of SCMS Prof. Wollhaf Prof. Wollhaf, Professor on Automation, Robotics & Mechatronics at the University of Applied Sciences, Ravensburg- Weingarten and visiting Professor to SSET conducting class for E.E Department students during the faculty exchange programme between the University of Applied Sciences, Ravensburg- Weingarten,Germany and SSET. This exchange programme is part of the project "Indo-German Centre of Competence for Water and Waste Water Management implemented by CSWTM, SSET in collaboration with financial assistance by Baden-Wuttemberg, Stiftung, Stuttgart.
