Orientation Program
New Academic year 2014-15 commenced from 1st of August 2014. First Day of the new
academic year started with orientation to the course, syllabus, rues & regulations for each class
by the respective class coordinators. The courses commenced from 1st of August were

the percentage of attendance on the first Day was 83%, 100%, 96%, 84% and 100% respectively.
The classes for 1styr Orientation programme were conducted by all the respective class co-
ordinators for the student in which Students were informed about course structure, pattern of
examination and internal assessment. They were also informed about yearly plans and rules and
regulations to be followed during academics with special on punctuality in class and clinical.
Further students were encouraged to develop good learning habits and were assured that their
problems if any will be empathetically dealt by coordinator.

The orientation program conducted on 0/08/2014 at 9:00am to 12:00Noon.It is conducted in the
FON LAB .This is combined programme of three new batches i.e 1st Basic B, Sc, 1st P,B,Bsc&
1stMscNursing.The coordinator Ms. Leena Aswale welcomed all the students. Then she
introduced herself, and other teachers of the department, Mrs. Suhasini Manerkar, Mrs. Hruta

As per schedule programme was started at 10 am. Mrs. Perpetua F. welcomed all parents,
students & faculty members & gave the introduction of STES.
After that Ms. Leena Aswale gave the orientation about Sinhgad College of Nursing in
that she told about physical structure of building, all lab & faculty members.
Every student gave the Response about the college curriculum & all activities followed in
the college.

programmme .
Students were given information about the academic course structure, pattern of examination and
internal assessment, clinical postings and also about places of visits as prescribed by the MUHS
University.
Rules and regulations regarding discipline and the penalties for breaking them were explained to
them. They were encouraged to attend theory and clinical on a regular basis.
Students were advised to complete their theory and clinical assignment on time, and submit them
to their respective evaluators.
Further students were encouraged to develop good studying and learning habits and were assured
that their problems if any will be empathetically dealt by coordinator.

The orientation program conducted on 04/08/2014 at 9:00am to 10:00am.It is conducted in the
class room. class coordinator Suchana Roy Bhowmik welcomed all the students. Then she
introduced herself, and other teachers of the department, Sandip Barfe and Rasika Kokate.
Student orientation was done and then scheme of evaluation done .Syllabus as per university
was told to the student about hours prescribed by the university to each subject and clinical hours
allotted by the university .Instructions were given about the Genetic classes which will be
conducted in Aundh by the University and they have to pay 500 Rs each .After that she discussed
about different assignment for each subject to be submitted .Then the rules and regulations were
discussed and told that it will be followed in classroom and clinical. Mrs.Suchana. told that if the

student will absent without information, then student have to do make up duty as 1:3.there will
not be any make up for completing required percentage for exam appearing. Deficit hours of
makeup will be done after four years of completion of course. Regarding college fee madam said
to pay by August month. Mam told about that each student have to purchase own books of each
subject of 2nd
year, list will be given to them shortly. At the end doubts of the students are

Farewell Programme
On 6-8-2014 Farewell programme was organized for the out going students of Second year
M.Sc, Second year Post Basic & Final year Basic B.Sc Nursing students for the 12-13 batches.
The programme was organized by the senior batches and the SNA unit of SCON. Mementos

The world Alzheimer‟s Day celebrated on 22nd September 2014, at Sinhgad College of Nursing.
Morning was started with Rally on „Prevention of Alzheimer disease and care of patients with
Alzheimer‟ followed by Street Play on the same topic performed by Sinhgad College of Nursing
students at Kondhava Community Area, peoples response for the same was overwhelming.
Afternoon session college has planned Lecture on „Dementia & Risk Reduction: An analysis of
protective and modifiable factors.‟ Guided by well known Psychiatrist Speaker: Dr. Sunil
Gowda. Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital. Followed by Elocution
Competition on the same topic. 26 students participated in same. Winners and the guests were
felicities with sapling. Anchoring for the same was done by Ms. Sankalpa Bhingardive. The Day
ended with Vote of Thanks from Mrs. Priyanka Kale, Secretary, Mental Health Nursing
Department, Sinhgad College of Nursing. The students enjoyed the Day.

On occasion of the world heart Day the medical surgical nursing department of Sinhgad College
of Nursing organized various activities for the Faculty as well as the community.
At 9.00 am a stress relieving session was conducted for the teachers. The faculty was welcomed
with the broach which symbolized the heart by the Final year M.Sc (MSN) students. Mrs.
Fernandes Perpetua. Assoc Professor and HOD of medical surgical nursing department
conducted a deep breathing as well as meditation session for the teachers for 45 min. The
teachers felt refreshed and suggested to conduct many more sessions like this.
At 10 am the M.Sc (MSN) along with Basic B.Sc. Nursing students performed a street play on
heart diseases and preventive measures. The street play focused on the heart disease its causes,
signs and symptoms and preventive measures. The street play was conducted in two different
places in Smt. Kashibai Navale hospital

There was a Seminar on World Mental health Day presented by the group of doctors in the
seminar room of Psychiatry ward and at the end of programme there was prize distribution for

2014 at Inorbit Mall, Viman Nagar. The theme was “Zero newer infection, Zero deaths and Zero
discrimination by 2015”. Students participated in the Dance competition and performed a 7 min

College of Nursing won the FIRST prize for the Dance. They were awarded by a trophy and

Theme: Gear up to end T.B
On the occasion of world T.B Day(24/3/2015) the Medical surgical dept of Sinhgad College of
nursing organized a health awareness program. The theme „Gear up to stop T.B‟ was displayed
everywhere in the College. The faculty members Mrs. Perpetua Fernandes, Mrs. Suchana Roy
Bhowmik and Ms Prajwala Dongardive organized the program along with the 2nd
Year M.Sc.
students. Mr.Joshi Dyaneshwar and Ms. Shridevi Valvi. Ms. Dongardive was the overall in
charge of the program. The awareness was conducted in the form of Health talk and distribution
of Pamphlets for patients of Smt Kashibai Navale hospital Pune. The health talk included the
following aspects introduction, mode of transmission, signs and symptoms, treatment and
prevention. After the health talk the queries and doubts asked by the patients and relatives were
clarified accordingly. Mrs. Fernandes. Perpetua had given the pamphlets on prevention of
tuberculosis in Marathi by the Akshya organization which was distributed among the patients.
