AUGUST 2014

Orientation Program

New Academic year 2014-15 commenced from 1st of August 2014. First Day of the new

academic year started with orientation to the course, syllabus, rues & regulations for each class

by the respective class coordinators. The courses commenced from 1st of August were

the percentage of attendance on the first Day was 83%, 100%, 96%, 84% and 100% respectively.

The classes for 1styr Orientation programme were conducted by all the respective class co-

ordinators for the student in which Students were informed about course structure, pattern of

examination and internal assessment. They were also informed about yearly plans and rules and

regulations to be followed during academics with special on punctuality in class and clinical.

Further students were encouraged to develop good learning habits and were assured that their

problems if any will be empathetically dealt by coordinator.

First Year P. B.Sc Nursing

The orientation program conducted on 0/08/2014 at 9:00am to 12:00Noon.It is conducted in the

FON LAB .This is combined programme of three new batches i.e 1st Basic B, Sc, 1st P,B,Bsc&

1stMscNursing.The coordinator Ms. Leena Aswale welcomed all the students. Then she

introduced herself, and other teachers of the department, Mrs. Suhasini Manerkar, Mrs. Hruta

Atnerkar and Mrs. Hema Hotkar.Schedule of over all programme as follow.

As per schedule programme was started at 10 am. Mrs. Perpetua F. welcomed all parents,

students & faculty members & gave the introduction of STES.

After that Ms. Leena Aswale gave the orientation about Sinhgad College of Nursing in

that she told about physical structure of building, all lab & faculty members.

Every student gave the Response about the college curriculum & all activities followed in

the college.

Mrs. Kalpana Bhandari, Vice Principal clarify doubt of students & parents & programme

ended at 11 am.

2nd

P.B.BScNursing

The Orientation programme was conducted by the teaching staff of 2ndP.B.BSc course led by

Mrs.Reshma Salve , co-coordinator from 9-11 am on 4th

august 2014 . The other teaching staff

i.e Baptist Pinto , Aarthi Kulkarni and Rutuja Nanaware were also present during the orientation



programme. A total of Thirty seven out of forty-three students were present for the orientation

programmme .

Students were given information about the academic course structure, pattern of examination and

internal assessment, clinical postings and also about places of visits as prescribed by the MUHS

University.

Rules and regulations regarding discipline and the penalties for breaking them were explained to

them. They were encouraged to attend theory and clinical on a regular basis.

Students were advised to complete their theory and clinical assignment on time, and submit them

to their respective evaluators.

Further students were encouraged to develop good studying and learning habits and were assured

that their problems if any will be empathetically dealt by coordinator.

2nd

year B.B.Sc Nursing

The orientation program conducted on 04/08/2014 at 9:00am to 10:00am.It is conducted in the

class room. class coordinator Suchana Roy Bhowmik welcomed all the students. Then she

introduced herself, and other teachers of the department, Sandip Barfe and Rasika Kokate.

Student orientation was done and then scheme of evaluation done .Syllabus as per university

was told to the student about hours prescribed by the university to each subject and clinical hours

allotted by the university .Instructions were given about the Genetic classes which will be

conducted in Aundh by the University and they have to pay 500 Rs each .After that she discussed

about different assignment for each subject to be submitted .Then the rules and regulations were

discussed and told that it will be followed in classroom and clinical. Mrs.Suchana. told that if the



student will absent without information, then student have to do make up duty as 1:3.there will

not be any make up for completing required percentage for exam appearing. Deficit hours of

makeup will be done after four years of completion of course. Regarding college fee madam said

to pay by August month. Mam told about that each student have to purchase own books of each

subject of 2nd

year, list will be given to them shortly. At the end doubts of the students are

clarified and given best wishes to 2nd

Year. The orientation program ended at 10:00am.







Farewell Programme

On 6-8-2014 Farewell programme was organized for the out going students of Second year

M.Sc, Second year Post Basic & Final year Basic B.Sc Nursing students for the 12-13 batches.

The programme was organized by the senior batches and the SNA unit of SCON. Mementos

were distributed to the students of the outgoing batches and also speech was given by the Class

coordinators of those batches and Principal Madam. The Programme ended with lunch for all.



SEPTEMBER 2014

Teacher‟s Day:



Teacher‟s Day was celebrated on 5th

September 2014 in the lecture hall 4 by the SNAI unit and

the students of SCON. Teachers were welcomed with flowers and also they were given the tree

saplings. The program started with the briefing of history about Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan in

which his life events were highlighted. Mrs Kalpana Bhandari Vice Principal delivered speech

on this occasion. One minute games and Antakshari were organized for the teachers by the

students.



World Oral Health Day

The World Oral Health Day program was conducted in Pediatric Medicine Ward on 12/09/2014

at 11:00am to 12:00Noon.This programme was celebrated by Third Year Basic BSc. Nursing

students.

They gave health education on Maintenance of Oral Hygiene to the admitted Children‟s &

Parents by using Poster & Flash card & also take the feedback from them.

The world Alzheimer‟s Day celebrated on 22nd September 2014, at Sinhgad College of Nursing.

Morning was started with Rally on „Prevention of Alzheimer disease and care of patients with

Alzheimer‟ followed by Street Play on the same topic performed by Sinhgad College of Nursing

students at Kondhava Community Area, peoples response for the same was overwhelming.

Afternoon session college has planned Lecture on „Dementia & Risk Reduction: An analysis of

protective and modifiable factors.‟ Guided by well known Psychiatrist Speaker: Dr. Sunil

Gowda. Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital. Followed by Elocution

Competition on the same topic. 26 students participated in same. Winners and the guests were

felicities with sapling. Anchoring for the same was done by Ms. Sankalpa Bhingardive. The Day

ended with Vote of Thanks from Mrs. Priyanka Kale, Secretary, Mental Health Nursing

Department, Sinhgad College of Nursing. The students enjoyed the Day.

World Heart Day 29th

September 2014.



On occasion of the world heart Day the medical surgical nursing department of Sinhgad College

of Nursing organized various activities for the Faculty as well as the community.

At 9.00 am a stress relieving session was conducted for the teachers. The faculty was welcomed

with the broach which symbolized the heart by the Final year M.Sc (MSN) students. Mrs.

Fernandes Perpetua. Assoc Professor and HOD of medical surgical nursing department

conducted a deep breathing as well as meditation session for the teachers for 45 min. The

teachers felt refreshed and suggested to conduct many more sessions like this.

At 10 am the M.Sc (MSN) along with Basic B.Sc. Nursing students performed a street play on

heart diseases and preventive measures. The street play focused on the heart disease its causes,

signs and symptoms and preventive measures. The street play was conducted in two different

places in Smt. Kashibai Navale hospital

The Day was concluded by cultural programme from the organizers.

2/10/2014 On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and non Violence Day and POSTER competition

was organized for students in SCON on the theme non violence. Student also took pledge for

keeping environment clean, with that rally of student, passed through out the campus area.

The students of second year MSc nursing community specialty celebrated Hand washing Day

under the guidance of Mrs.Reshma Madam, on 17/ 10/ 2014 in SKNMC&GH, Medical OPD



At the Start of the programme importance on hand washing was explained with the help of small

role play on hand washing, and the students have given health education on hand washing, to the

people present in medical OPD we also distributed Dettol Hand soap to the patient present in the

OPD.

The program concluded with health education and patient‟s response to health education and

their view on their health and importance of hand washing.

World Mental Health Day Celebration

Theme:-“Living With Schizophrenia”

World Mental Health Day was celebrated in SKNMC & GH by Sinhgad College of

Nursing & Psychiatric Dept of the Hospital. Poster competition was organized in psychiatric

ward for students .Dr. Kalmegh was the judge for the poster competition.

A role play was performed by the nursing student on the theme “Living With Schizophrenia”

in the SKNMC hospital campus in front of casualty‟s Priyanka Kale supervised the activities for

the Day

There was a Seminar on World Mental health Day presented by the group of doctors in the

seminar room of Psychiatry ward and at the end of programme there was prize distribution for

poster competition.

World Mental health week was also at Sassoon Hospital celebrated on 7th

-10th

October 2014.

The Theme for the week was “Living with Schizophrenia”. For this Day Music therapy,

Rangoli, Essay and poster competition was conducted in psychiatry ward of Sassoon Hospital.

By the Mental Health Department of Sassoon Hospital. For the Essay competition following

topics was given:



o Living with Schizophrenia

o Stigma of Mental Illness

o Carrier opportunity in Psychiatry.

S.Y.B.B.Sc Nursing students participated in the following activities and won various prizes.

Essay Competition- 1st Prize. The students also presented street play in the casualty of

Sassoon hospital on the above theme. On the occasion of mental health week a movie based on

Schizophrenia “Devrai” was shown to students at Sinhgad College of Nursing.





NOVEMBER

World Diabetes Day.

On the occasion of world diabetes Day a series of Health Education program was planned for

patients in various medical surgical wards in SKNMCGH by the F.Y.P.B.BSc Nursing

students. The disease signs and symptoms, investigation, treatment, Nutrition, foot care and

home care were dealt.

DECEMBER 2014

World AID‟s Day celebration:



On occasion of world AID‟s Day a dance competition and poster presentation at state level was

planned by Sadhu Vaswani College of Nursing in collaboration with DISHA NGO on 30th

Dec

2014 at Inorbit Mall, Viman Nagar. The theme was “Zero newer infection, Zero deaths and Zero

discrimination by 2015”. Students participated in the Dance competition and performed a 7 min

dance on the theme. Mrs Perpetua Fernandes was the judge for poster competition. Sinhgad

College of Nursing won the FIRST prize for the Dance. They were awarded by a trophy and

certificates by the Mayor of Pune.

A. V. Aid Exhibition:

12 January 2015.



As a part of S.Y,B.BSc Nursing Curriculum under the subject of Communication education

technology . A.V Aid exhibition was held on 12th

January 2015. A variety of A.V aids were

prepared by the students in the exhibition such as charts, models, pamphlets etc. The event

started with a warm welcome given by Ms Shalaka Kapadia. Principal Madam and faculty

viewed all the exhibits. They appreciated the student‟s hard work and gave their valuable

suggestions. Mr Satish Choure gave the closing note.

Youth Day Celebration

Theme: “Youngmanch” and “Youth for Clean, Green and Progressive India” (and slogan was “hum se

hainayishuruaat”).



Youth Day is celebrated on 12th

January throughout the nation. The Program started with

street play which was presented by S.Y.P.B.B.Sc nursing students in which they included

problem of substance abuse, its causes effects treatment and rehabilitation. The HOD of PSM

dept Dr Fernandez was the Chief Guest of the Program. The program started with the

inauguration. Students presented the welcome song felicitation of the invited guests was

done.Students exhibited various exhibits on alcohol dependence. The program ended with vote

of thanks.

MARCH

World Tuberculosis Day Celebration

Theme: Gear up to end T.B

On the occasion of world T.B Day(24/3/2015) the Medical surgical dept of Sinhgad College of

nursing organized a health awareness program. The theme „Gear up to stop T.B‟ was displayed

everywhere in the College. The faculty members Mrs. Perpetua Fernandes, Mrs. Suchana Roy

Bhowmik and Ms Prajwala Dongardive organized the program along with the 2nd

Year M.Sc.

students. Mr.Joshi Dyaneshwar and Ms. Shridevi Valvi. Ms. Dongardive was the overall in

charge of the program. The awareness was conducted in the form of Health talk and distribution

of Pamphlets for patients of Smt Kashibai Navale hospital Pune. The health talk included the

following aspects introduction, mode of transmission, signs and symptoms, treatment and

prevention. After the health talk the queries and doubts asked by the patients and relatives were

clarified accordingly. Mrs. Fernandes. Perpetua had given the pamphlets on prevention of

tuberculosis in Marathi by the Akshya organization which was distributed among the patients.



Even the students of Fourth Year Basic B.Sc had attended the program. The program ended with

a vote of thanks.





JUNE

TOT of Teachers on Tuberculosis

From 8th

-10th

June 2015Bel-Air College of Nursing Panchgani in Collaboration with INC

organized a TOT on Tuberculosis on Care and control. Mrs Himalini Nimbalkar and Ms

Prajwala Dongardive attended the 3 Day session. For the first two Days lecture series were

conducted which focused on diseases and the revised national program whereas practical session

and field visit was conducted on the third Day.



International Yoga Day; 22nd

June2015:-

The International yoga Day was celebrated on 22nd

June 2015 in 4th

Year classroom. The

following activities were carried out. Morning yoga demo (7:00am to 8.00) was conducted. 100

students participated in the yoga session. Following asanas were done.pranayama, dhanurasan,

shavasana, naukasan, pavanmuktasana, shirshasana, vakrasanavrukshasan, makrasana, bhramari,

Sidhasana, Padmasan, Chandrasan. The best participants in the morning yoga session:-

Mr.Malhari Shende. After the yoga session a Essay competition was conducted on the Topics of

the Essay given: - Yoga & health, Yoga & Mental Health . The prize winners were
