New York State Regents Earth ScienceRequirements:

. 180 hours of class time a week

. 1200 Minutes of Lab Hours for the year.

. Must score at least a 70% on all Lab Reports or must "ReDo".

. Take both IrIYS Regents Examination in June & I{fS Grade EightScience Examination in April.

. Each Student must have scored a " 4" on both Grade 7 Et A & MathExaminations

Halfin'ay Progress check to determine further progress in the course,

further progress will be determined by Teacher and AssistantPrincipal.

Students I\{AY NOT have a report card grade less than 90 for twoconsecutive marking periods.

Homework:The purpose of homework is to reinforce what students learned in class.

Expect homework 3-4 times per week. Most assignments will be to completea lab write up or to practice and review current topics in class. Allassignments are due at the start of the class period. Incompleteassignments earn a grade of "0". Late homework MUST becompleted by the next day and will earn a maximum of "half-credit."

Horseplay, practicaljokes, and pranks will NOT be tolerated.

2. Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. Ask your teacher if you do notunderstand the instructions.

3. Do NOT touch any of the equipment until instructed to do so.

4. Never eat, drink, chew gum, or taste anything in the science room.

5. Wash your hands with soap & water before leaving class.

6. Wear safety goggles when instructed.

7. Keep work area neat and free of unnecessary materials.

8. Clean all work areas & equipment at the end of the experiment. Dispose of waste asinstructed

9. Report any accident immediately.

10. Consider all chemicals used in the science room to be dangerous. Do not touch orsmell any chemicals unless specifically told to do so.

11. Students are not allowed to enter the science storage closet at any time.

12.Do not remove supplies from the science classroom without the science teacher'spermission.

13. Handle all glassware with care. Never pick up broken or hot glassware with yourbare hands.

14. Use extreme caution when using matches, a burner, or hot plate. Only light burnerswhen instructed and do not put anything into a flame unless specifically inltructed todo so. Do not leave a lit burner unattended.

15. Dress properly - long hair must be tied back, no dangling sleeves or jewelry, wear  'v'."v -.-'
