Binocular Vision: humans have two eyes (the image from each eye is combined to give us the ability to determine distance)

Field of Vision: determined by how much you can see without moving your head

Pupil- the dark center Iris- the colored part (blue, green, brown, hazel)

Sclera- white part

The pupil: the dark hole in the center of the iris where light enters the eye

bright light = the iris closes the pupil so less light gets in.

dark conditions = the iris opens up the pupil so more light in

The iris: muscle tissue which determines the size of the pupil (the blue, green, brown, or hazel part of the eye)

The sclera: the white part of the eyeball (tough, protective skin which covers the entire eyeball)

The Cornea: the clear area over the iris and pupil (bends and focuses the light the light entering the eye towards the lens)

Lens: adjusted by small muscles to help us focus on things that are close and far away.

Retina: contains the rods and cones where an upside down image is projected

the box is a model of your eye. Light enters through the opening in the front of your eye (the iris) and passes through a crystalline lens. The lens focuses the light into an image that falls on your retina (the inside of the back of your eye). When an image falls on the retina, nerve cells send signals to your brain which are interpreted to create an image.

Humans = 6 muscles controlling our eyeball (can look in different directions without moving our heads)

Cows = 4 muscles controlling their eyeball (they can’t roll their eyes like you can)

So cows have to turn their heads to look around!
