SCIENCE COMMUNICATION FELLOWSHIP Interested in science communication and outreach? Join the Pacific Science Center community! What is the Science Communication Fellowship? Pacific Science Center’s Science Communication Fellowship provides training and ongoing opportunities for local scientists, engineers, researchers and other science-based professionals to engage with the public at Pacific Science Center about their work. What are the benefits? • Communications and public engagement skill-building through a fun and interactive training course founded on informal science education research. • Join a community of museum professionals and local scientists dedicated to sharing ideas and strategies for public engagement with science. • Receive documentation suitable for sharing with supervisors and for grant reporting as needed. • Consultation for planning broader impacts components of grants and other outreach requirements. • Pacific Science Center membership. What are the requirements? • You must be an active academic or industry researcher or other science-based professional (postbaccalaureate or above). • Participate in Pacific Science Center’s Science Communication Course. See application for class dates and details. • Develop a fun, interactive outreach activity related to your current work with support from our public engagement professionals. • Use your activity in at least three Meet a Scientist events in the first year. Meet a Scientist is held most Saturdays at Pacific Science Center and exclusively features Fellows with their activities. Remain an active Science Communication Fellow by participating in at least three public events, including Meet a Scientist, each subsequent year.
