The skeletonOur structural support system is called the

skeleton.

The skull bone The bones of the head, or the skull bones,are

design to do their special work.

The backboneThe backbone is fastened firmly to the skull

at one end and the hipbones at the other end.

The hipbonesThe hipbones, together with the sacrum and

the coccyx of the spine, form a large bony cup.

The leg bonesIn the long bones of the legs you can find

another example of bones well design to perform a particular job.

The foot bonesThe bones in its foot are set in arches.

The bones of the handThink of the many short,fast movements you

can make with your hands.

Ball and socket jointsThose in the shoulder and hip, the widest

range of movements including back and forth and rotating movements.

Hinge jointsThose in your knees, fingers and toes.

The ribsProtect such vital organs as the lungs and

heart.

The flat bonesThe flat bones in your body are put together

somewhat like a sandwich.

The long bonesThe arms and the leg bones is called long

bones.
