This course is designed to give students a Level 2 qualification in Fashion Retail, providing the knowledge, skills and understanding required to gain employment, or progress to a Level 3 qualification. This qualification is unique within this sector and the course is assessed using a variety of methods which directly relate to the type of work students could obtain on completion of the course. The assessment approach ensures learners have a fulfilling experience in developing their personal attributes as well as the skills and knowledge to excel in the fashion industry and develop entrepreneurial talent. The course offers a start to a career within a variety of retail professions and will lead on to further higher level training and learning opportunities in an area which has grown extensively in recent years. A career path based on this option would lead into professional work in areas such as Sales, Advertising & Marketing, Buying, and Human resources, Visual Merchandising, Administration and Customer Service. There are two levels available in the Retail Business Diploma, Level 1 and Level 2. Both have two elements to the course. The first is the completion of the classroom-based tutorials; the second is to complete 10 day’s work placement within the retail sector. Foundation Diploma Level 1(240) GLH The Foundation Diploma is made up of 5 core units: • Introduction to Retail • Exploring Enterprise in Retail Business • Introduction to the Retail Supply Chain • Introducing the Retail Outlet • Introduction to Customer Service in Retail Business Higher Diploma Level 2(420 GLH) The Higher Diploma is made up of 9 core units: • Exploring Retail • Exploring Retail Channels • Sourcing & Buying for Product Ranges • Exploring the Retail Supply Chain • Planning the Operation of Retail Outlets • Stock Control in Retail Business • Customer Service in Retail Business • Selling in Retail Business • Retail Theatre (Display/Merchandise)

Retail Business Diploma

This course is for students interested in a career in the Retail Sector. The course offers a start to a career within a variety of retail professions and will lead on to further higher level training and learning opportunities in an area which has grown extensively in recent years.

Progression Routes at The Source...The BTEC First Diploma in Business provides a broad, solid

foundation for progression to Level 3 and employment in the business sector, including an understanding of how organisations in business operate and the key skills required to work in the industry.

The core units consist of:

• Business purpose

• Business organisation

• Financial forecasting

• People in organisations

Optional Units will include:

• Personal selling in business

• The marketing plan

• Customer relations in business

• Promoting and branding in retail business

• Visual Merchandising in retail business

The BTEC in WorkSkills is a flexible qualification which can enrich your curriculum at any time of the year. The course has an extensive range of units, giving students the opportunity to build their own qualification that caters for their needs.
