APPLICATIONS FOR JULY 2019 INTAKE

The University of Lusaka (UNILUS) was opened in 2007 and is one of the leading private Universities in Zambia. The University has introduced a new programme in Medicine and Surgery under the School of Medicine and Health Sciences which is accredited by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

UNILUSUNILUS invites suitably qualified persons who wish to study for a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) to apply for entry. The two categories of entry are listed below:

A. Foundation Course in Medicine (Pre-Med Course)This course is designed for candidates who have completed their “O” levels. The 18 months bridging course is intended to prepare students for entry into the 5-year Medical training programme.

Admission CriteriaEligibleEligible applicants are those with Secondary School certificates with a minimum of credit or better in each of the following subjects:

English, Mathematics , Biology or Agricultural Science, Science (or Chemistry and Physics)and any other additional “O” level (if applicant has Science)

Physical sciences will be considered as equivalents. English, Mathematics, Biology and the Sciences are compulsory. Students with Cambridge school certificates or equivalents will also be considered.

B. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) direct entryThisThis is a 5-year programme in curative medicine, preventive health and social medicine. It runs basic and clinical sciences concurrently in a longitudinal design. The focus is to equip the modern Medical Doctors with skills in information technology, leadership, ethics and business. The course builds curative medical training on a background of preventive health.

Admission CriteriaCandidates who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for direct entry into the 5-year Medical training programme:1.1. “A” level qualifications with passes in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.2. BSc in Natural Sciences with Biology and Chemistry majors or a BSc in Health related sciences. 3. Candidates who have spent 2 years in the School of Natural Sciences or equivalent with passes in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or completed a Pre-Med course or equivalent.

CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS FOR THE JULY INTAKE IS 30TH JUNE 2019.
