Undergraduate & Main Library Tour
Meet outside Social Sciences, Health and
Education Library in the Main Library
Representatives from a broad spectrum of
organizations will be available to discuss how they
are using technology. Stop by to chat with iSchool
faculty members to find out how they use tech in
their teaching and research. Discover what’s
happening at FabLab, how tech is used in local
schools, libraries, and with preservation.
The tour of the Main and Undergraduate Libraries
is led by Piper Martin* and will provide an overview
of the library's physical spaces with an emphasis on
how they have evolved. We will see how traditional
services have changed as well as examples of newer
spaces and services offered by the libraries. Walking Directions from iSchool: Walk east to Wright Street,
turn right. Walk until you get to the end of the street. The
building straight ahead is the Main Library. Enter the doors and
go down the hall. Take a left to get to the Social Sciences, Health
and Education Library. *Tour Guide Bio: Piper Martin has been a librarian for 17 years, working in research and instruction and has a BA in English Literature from the
University of California Santa Cruz and an MSLIS from the University of Texas at Austin. Here at Illinois she supervises pre-professional graduate
assistants from the iSchool, works at the Information Desk at the Main Library, teaches library workshops and information literacy instruction sessions,
and serves on the Library’s Web Working Group. She has been an active ACRL member all of her career and currently serves on an Instruction Section
committee. Teaching and learning are at the center of her librarianship and research interests.
Break 5:00pm – 6:00pm
