ACADEMIC REPORT

Dear Parent/Caregivers

As we draw near to the end of the term it is important to reflect on the busy but rewarding term to date. Our students have continued to be engaged in a multi-faceted learning programme that develops and explores their potential as an emerging adolescents.

Throughout the term teachers (with their students) have continued to analyse their students learning needs and ensure their learning programme is building on their strengths as well as facilitating improvement where learning gaps are identified and targeted.

Our Student-Led Conferences last week were a great success with over 90% of families in attendance. Thank you to all who made the effort to be a part of this. Your involvement in your childʼs learning can have a significant impact with their progress as learners. Furthermore, congratulations to the students. As we walked through the classrooms throughout the day it was overwhelmingly rewarding listening to the students engaging with you and showcasing their learning. This was another positive step in moving students towards them taking charge of their learning and seeing it as something they do. The feedback we have gathered to date has been affirming with some constructive suggestions as to how we could make them even better, thank you to all those parents who have taken the time to fill out the online survey.

Finally, thank you for the many ways in which you have supported us and your students over the term. We look forward to Term Two and the many learning opportunities that are available.

Warm regards

YEAR SEVEN VISION SCREENING

Dear Parents/Caregivers

On 8 and 9 May 2013 the Pacific Health Vision Hearing Technicians will be visiting our school to carry out routine distance vision screening. All students in Year Seven are included in this as part of the National Screening Programme.

The screening test used checks distance vision only. It is NOT a full eye examination. (If you have concerns about close vision, please take your child to an Optometrist).

* The student covers one eye and reads letters from a chart at a distance of four metres.* Boys also have a colour vision test.* Parents will be notified of results by post, only when the screening results require further testing by an Optometrist.

If you DO NOT wish to have your childʼs vision tested for ay reason, please sign the form below and return it to school before the testing date.
