------------------NURSEY AND RECEPTION--------------

We have been super busy despite a

short week, learning the letter E as well

as practicing the numbers from 1 to 15,

reading CVC words, making the letter of

the week crafts and talking about

recycling in our environment. We

discussed why and what we should

‘reduce, reuse and recycle’, and

encouraged parents to bring in junk for

the messy play. We worked with

available materials and made houses,

vehicles and robots out of shoe boxes and

other various junk. We learned where the

materials have come from, what they are

made of and if they could be recycled in

any other way. We will do more of the

‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ projects next

week we will share with you the following

Friday.

“New” dance activity

Dance is one of the many elements of our

PE curriculum for the Children. On

Wednesday Years 5 and 6 learned many

dances from yesteryear. These were social

dances which were hugely popular about

fifty years ago. How many of these dances

that we covered do you know? The Funky

Chicken, the Mashed Potato, the

Locomotion, the Bump, the Birdie Song and

the Pogo. Well done to the Children who

really put a lot of energy and skill into the

session. Attached are some of the photos

taken during the lesson.

YEAR 4 SCIENCE WEEK

As part of Science Week, Year 4 created

useful products using only recycled

products. We had to try and make them

look store bought. It was very hard to

figure out how to make them look great!

We ended up with a cell phone holder,

pencil cases, board games, and a pen

holder. We were proud of our creations.

WORLD SCIENCE DAY

REDUCE, REUSE RECYCLE

This week we celebrated World Science Day. The

theme being about the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse and

Recycle. The week’s assembly was on this theme

and it was the basis of the week’s PSHE programme.

Tuesday was also a day for all to try to use less

paper, not easy in a school but reusing was

acceptable and so we did our bit for the planet! This

is also a follow up to looking at how to reduce the

number of plastic cups we use, research by the Year

11’s showed that inn EIS East we use over 200

plastic cups per day!!

INTERNATIONAL FOOD WEEK

Two weeks before half term we celebrated

International Food Week and made a collection for

distribution to Moscow’s less fortunate. This was a

great success as I reported at the time and we were

pleased to have the food collected and distributed

at the end of last Half Term.

Cone of Shame!
