Message from the Principal Hi everyone What an amazing week it has been! Carols thanks Carols thanks go out to Jacquie Walker for coordinating last Tuesday’s Carols. The format was a change to previous years and included solo and small group performances between the grade items. These small performances were very well received by the audience. Our choir again demonstrated its versatility and verve with powerful performances. (As they did again at the Montrose Community Carols on Sunday). Congratulations to the class teachers for their work with the children and their inspired song selection. Overall the night gave us a great mix of traditional and new Christmas songs… all delivered with great enthusiasm. Well done to Matt Stone who mixed the sound during the show. The singing was clearly heard in the last rows. (And it was his birthday on the night… what a showman!). Swim Carnival Fun The grades 3-6 backed up the next day with fine efforts in the pool. At stake was eternal glory for the successful house, whose name would be perpetually recognised on the House Swimming Carnival shield. Though a titanic and close struggle all day, Crellin (Blue House) snuck through to take the day. Thanks to Claire Knell for her organisation of the event, staff who followed her organisation and parents who volunteered and assisted in running the events. Well done too to the girls and boys who gave their all and did so with a sense of fun. Thank you to everyone for a fantastic year. I look forward to welcoming you all back for 2013, but first the holiday vacation. May you find time to spend with your kids and enjoy this precious time of their lives. Please make sure you snatch a few ‘me times’ as well so that you can rekindle your fire. Read a book, catch a movie or maybe just spend an hour or two organising all those digital photos you took this year. Just a reminder that the Office will be closed as of 4.00 pm on Wednesday. Please finalise any business before then. Also, school finishes at 1.30 this Friday. Assembly will be in the morning. Thank you from the Canteen

Thank you Kelly Yelland, Julie-Anne Carlson, Andrea Pryor, Sam Johnson-Clarke and her friend Noel Boersma for your help with the Special Christmas lunch on Friday. I hope you all enjoyed your chicken and chips. I would also like to say a big thank you to all of the mums who have helped out in the canteen this year. Thirty generous mums offered their time to come in on a Wednesday or Friday to help, prepare, cook, pack and serve lunches and snacks. Some of the days were busy and frantic but the kitchen stayed full of chatter and laughs so thank you ladies for helping make the canteen run smoothly and successfully in a happy atmosphere. Thank you also to all the children for being patient with us when we muck up and to those who are always polite and use manners at the counter – always appreciated. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to feeding you all again next year! Alison

THERE IS NO CANTEEN THIS WEEK

Thank You As the year comes to a close we take time to reflect on the year that was and all we have achieved. With this in mind, we would like to thank you for your contributions to the Parents Club whether it was volunteering your time helping out, making things to be sold or purchasing from the stalls, drives or Twilight fair. We couldn’t have achieved anything without your support – thank you. In saying goodbye to our grade 6’s, we also farewell a number of parents that have contributed enormously to the Parents Club endeavours over the years. So THANK YOU to; Mary-Ann Anderson & Andree Johnson-Clarke for their tireless energy, enthusiasm, organisational skills, knowledge & friendship they have offered over the many, many years as key members of the Parents Club. We wish you the best and hope to see you around Montrose and hopefully at our annual Twilight fair. The Montrose Primary School cake stall has an enviable reputation in the Montrose community and it is largely due to Edwina Dowling & Amanda Bell whom for many years co-ordinated the Cake Stall at the Twilight fair. The stall always looked amazing with the little touches they created and the quality cakes it attracted which sold quickly. We hope to also see you around Montrose and keeping an eye on future coordinators of the cake stall legacy you left. ***Christmas Stall*** Thank you to the Parents who helped out with the stall assisting the children with their Christmas purchases. We’re sure all those who are a recipient will be happy with the thought that has gone in to each carefully selected present. ***Twilight Fair – New Stall*** Looking at having a tidy up after Christmas? Love accessorizing and planning to ‘retire’ older items in your wardrobe? WAIT – please hang on to them until school starts back in 2013. We are planning a new stall at the 2013 Twilight Fair – “Pre-loved Quality Accessories”. Parents Club is on the lookout for any pre-loved QUALITY scarves, belts, jewelry, handbags and accessory items. ***Can you help???*** If you know someone who owns / runs a Petting zoo, we’d love to hear from you. Please leave your contact details with the office. arents Club
