On July 25, 1858, Marie Katherina Wunderlich married Wilhelm Hassler in the church in Birkalbach, Germany. In the next two years, the couple had two children, Heinrich and Friedrich Wilhelm. In 1861, the Hassler Family immigrated to Texas. During that time, their child, Friedrich, died. In Texas, the Hasslers settled in the Big Cypress area and began farming. William Hassler died of a fever between the years of 1863 and 1864. In 1865, Katherina married Heinrich Kaiser, a veteran of the Civil War. They had several children of their own together while also raising Heinrich Hassler. Descendants of Heinrich continue to live in the Klein community. Our PTO is dedicated to the success of every student and we encourage parents to become involved in their child’s education. On any given day, we have numerous volunteers assisting our teachers and working with the administration to come up with new ideas and programs for our students. From our weekly Reading Literacy Program to our Field Day in the spring, Hassler Elementary continues to be a leader in promoting a quality education and nurturing environment for our students. Hassler Elementary is rated as a Met Standard campus in Klein ISD and received Distinction Designations in Top 25 Percent Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness. Our counselor works in a partnership with our students, their parents, and our staff to help our students achieve success academically, socially, and emotionally. She organizes a number of school wide events, including our Character Development and Stand Up to Bullying programs, the No Place for Hate initiative, Red Ribbon Week, and Paint the Community with Peace Week. The overall goal of our school’s counseling program is to assist our students in becoming healthy, confident, and responsible citizens with a life- long love of learning!
