Francis Bradley Middle School Profile

Francis Bradley Middle School has a diverse student and staff population. Presently, we have 1,065 students enrolled—

30.5% African-American students, 47.4% White students, 13.5% Hispanic, 3.5% Asian and about 5.1% of our students

come from other races and ethnicities. In the last five years our school has continued to become more and more diverse.

We have approximately 14.4% of our students in the program for the gifted. We are in the second year off implementation

of the Cambridge Program at Francis Bradley Middle School which provides a high level of rigor to students in sixth

through eighth grade. There are approximately 90 students per grade level in the Cambridge Program. These students

are grouped together for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. We have five classes of self-

contained exceptional children (three Autistic classrooms, and two SAC classrooms). There are approximately 120 total

exceptional children serviced by 5 EC and 12 general education inclusion teachers. Bradley Middle School also serves

about 33 LEP students and these students are accommodated through an ESL program in which students are either

enrolled in an ESL class or monitored and supported if they are mainstreamed in regular education classes.

Our overall growth index increased from +7.14 in 2014-2015 to +8.62 in 2015-2016 and our school Exceeded Expected

Growth for the third year in a row. We successfully met 100% of our AMO targets during the 2015-2016 school year which

is an improvement from the year before. Student achievement at Francis Bradley Middle continues to be of a high quality

in many areas including mathematics; however, there are areas in which improvement is necessary, particularly in

Reading.

Reading and math will continue to be a major focus for our school as we will use targeted small group instruction, the

MTSS process, and data driven instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Students will receive intervention or

enrichment support through our Lab Experiences. While the climate and culture at our school is inviting and nurturing we

will continue to look for ways to continuously improve it through focusing on Professional Learning for our teachers.
