● What is JROTC?JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.The program started in 1916. The program was expanded by congress in 1964.

• JROTC Mission: To motivate young people to become better citizens.

• JROTC VISION -Providing a quality citizenship, character, and leadership development program, while fostering partnerships with communities and educational institutions.

• The JROTC is a program offered to high schools that teaches students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity

• Students are taught through various subjects such as Military Drill, Communications, Physical Fitness Senior Rotc student explaining

to his fellow classmate

LEVELS• There are four levels in JROTC. They are known as Leadership,

Education and Training (LET) Levels.• All students entering JROTC start at LET level 1 regardless of

school grade level.• Students that enter as Freshman and remain in the program will

progress through all four levels.

Leadership• As students progress in LET

level, they are promoted based on Leadership abilities and participation.

• There are two categories of promotions: Enlisted and Officer. The Army basic rank structure is used with minor changes.

AWARDS• Awards are earned by students

for their accomplishments through the year.

• There are four categories of awards: Academic, Military, Athletic and Miscellaneous Awards.

• National Awards – Presented by Veterans Organizations

Military Service• JROTC does not obligate anyone

to join the military.• Joining the military is a personal

choice.• If a student wants to join there are

opportunities to talk to recruiters of all services.

• Opportunities to speak with College ROTC students.

Why Students Join• Do not want to take physical

education.• Want to learn about military service.• To compete for two year straight

STANDARDS

• All students are required to wear a uniform one day of the week (no exceptions).

• Must meet standards while in uniform (i.e. haircuts, make-up, jewelry).

• Must do work as in any other class.
