We wish the following
students who celebrate a
birthday in November a very
happy and blessed birthday:
Class Reflection Days
As we approach the end of the school year, many classes are having a Reflection Day.
This is an opportunity for the children to reflect on their year. They get to think about
how much they have grown and changed, about their friends and all that they have
learned. It is also an opportunity for them to give thanks for the year that has been.
Along with fun activities, the children are involved in prayer, Christian meditation and
times of quiet reflection. Every class is involved in these Reflection Days in different
ways, with the younger classes participating for a few hours, while the older classes may
do it for the whole day.
Please make sure that you take the time to talk to your child about what their class is
doing on their Reflection Day!
Transition Visits
We are very excited as we continue to support children and their families for the
transition of young children to school and preschool. Our teachers have been to visit
some children who attend preschool in different centres. This week we also met many
new families as they came for their Parent Information meeting for preschool! Next week
the new pre-schoolers will begin their transition visit to our preschool.
We love meeting new children and their families as they begin their journey at St
Margaret Mary’s School!
Limited places are available for 2021, so please make sure that you
let your friends know, if they are considering St Margaret Mary’s for
their child. We would love to welcome them too!

NAIDOC Week
This week many of our classes have been learning about the importance of NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia this week to celebrate the history, culture and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A recognition and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is an important part of our mission as a Catholic School and commitment to all Australians. This year the theme is Always Was, Always Will Be.
Thank you for your continuing support,

November the month to remember
During November, it is a tradition in the Catholic Church
to remember our friends, family and colleagues who have
died. The parish remembers these people in prayer and
has a list which you are welcome to
add names to by using the November
Mass envelopes that are available in
each church and placing them in the
offertory plates during the weekend
Masses. You are also welcome to add
any names to the book that is in the
front office at school and we will re-
member these people in prayer during November.
Sacramental Program
Enrolment forms for the next Sacramental Program are
now available from the school and Parish office. If your
child has been baptised and is in Year 2 or above, you
will receive an enrolment form automatically. If you do
not receive one, please let the staff in the front office
know so they can provide you with an enrolment form.

Last Wednesday 35 students attended the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival at SA Athletics Stadium. We competed against other schools around Adelaide and the students had a fantastic day! I was very proud of the way our students competed fairly, respectfully and with big smiles on their faces! A big special mention to Erik Vuong who won the Age Champion Medal for his amazing achievements on the day.
I’d also like to thank our 2 fantastic parent volunteers Zainab and Tracey for the day and to Greig Graham for all his efforts in the lead up to the carnival and on the day.
Well done to all the students who attended!

3/4 Unit Beeswax
Wrapper Workshops
The 3/4 Unit made beeswax wrappers in Week
3 with KESAB. The wrappers are something
you can use instead of cling wrap.
A beeswax wrap is made from a piece of
100% cotton fabric coated with beeswax. They
can be used in various ways, such as wrapping
a sandwich or covering a bowl and putting it in
the fridge. Washing is also a breeze; all you
have to do is rinse it with cold water. And after
it gets old and tears, you can throw it in the
compost bin.
We got help from Lijo, Liyana’s dad, and Emma, Celeste’s mum. We also got help from
Eloise, an employee of KESAB, which stands for Keep South Australia Beautiful. Eloise
showed us how to make the beeswax wrappers. Let us show you how to make beeswax
wrappers.
First we had to draw and design on our 100% cotton cloth with food safe fabric markers.
After we finished drawing, we took them to the first station, the ironing station. There we
had to iron our cloth, under the supervision of Lijo.
Then after we finished the first station, we went into the second station, the actual bees-
wax melting station. Over there, Eloise the KESAB supervisor, gave us a brush dipped in
melted beeswax to swipe over our drawings. After we put melted beeswax on our cloth,
we went onto the third station, another ironing station because our cloths were lumpy.
Then after we ironed them we dried them by waving them gently. After we finished with
that, Eloise told us to get an activity sheet and do it while we wait for the others to finish.
We interviewed some people about what they think of the Beeswax wrappers. Nam said
that they smelt good and were easy to make. Charlotte said that they smelt good. Yalda
said that they were fun to make and they smelled good. Esther said that the Beeswax
smelt weird. Jayani said that the Beeswax smelled like honey and Jamie said that most of
the people in 3/4KD liked the smell of beeswax.

FLB
The Foundation class have been learning about what it means to be healthy.
We know that we should eat lots of colourful fruits and vegetables.
We have learnt the names of some fruits we didn’t know such as an apple cucumber,
papaya, nectarines and dates.
We even had a chance to try them.
We talked about what they smelt like, felt like and tasted like.
“The nectarine looks like a peach”
-Nathan
“The dates smell sweet”
-Ngan
“I like the taste of the Papaya” “I have tried Papaya before”
Anglo Italiano
The Year 3/4 students are learning about La Befana.
They have drawn their own images and recorded some facts in Italian about her.
