These are some easy ways to stay safe when you travel on a school bus. Follow the rules and be safe.

It’s easy to stay safe when you go to school and come home! Just follow these simple safety steps…

At the bus stop:

Always WALK to the bus stop. Never run!

When walking to the bus stop, always walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, stay on the left side of the street, facing traffic.

Always arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes earlier than the bus.

Wait in a safe place, far away from the road. Don’t run or play while waiting for the bus.

Never talk to strangers or get into a stranger’s car. If a stranger tries to speak with you, go straight home and tell an adult right away.

On the bus:

Go quickly to a seat. Remain seated and speak quietly so the driver is not distracted.

If you need to speak to the driver, wait for the bus to stop and raise your hand.

NEVER throw things on the bus or out the windows. Never play with the emergency exits.

Keep the bus aisles clear at all times.

If there is an emergency, listen to the driver and follow instructions.

Exiting the bus:Make sure you walk 3 steps away from the bus. Stay away from the wheels and watch out for other vehicles.

Once you are off the bus, go straight home so an adult will know where you are.

Only get on and off the bus at your stop. If you need to get on or off somewhere else, bring a note from your parents.

If you leave something on the bus, NEVER go back to get it. The bus driver may not see you and might start moving the bus! If you drop something, tell the driver before you pick it up so they will know where you are.
