We love our neighborhood school! Support improvements for North Eugene HS to strengthen North region. YG needs a K–8 with 3 kindergartens to feed it. First Japanese immersion school in the nation should no longer be overlooked. YG need K–8 & own building (ideal). Must have 3 kindergartens to maintain high quality. Current building does not meet needs. Prefer K–8 in one location. Camas Ridge – equity – paying to upgrade Willard for temporary use while ignoring current needs of Camas doesn’t make sense. Alternative school use for Willard and equitable. (no busing, different set of people able to use). Camas & Edison were listed together as needing rebuilding. Why has Camas completely dropped off the list? Our site can be in use while a new school is built. Edison – renovate front façade (save the history) & remodel (new info. at effective teaching & learning sites). What about getting Edison historically recognized & celebrated? Camas Ridge is a Title 1 school. You wouldn’t give us a temporary or even a yurt last time, but you promised us we’d be in the next bond. Now, we’re shut out again, in favor of renovating a school (Willard) with no students. The Sheldon region projections are fine, but the Camas projections did not consider Amazon Camas, a 117-unit apartment building. Equity should be more than a slogan. Edison – Rebuild on its current site. Save the historical façade. Walkable neighborhood school should be a priority Keep Edison – Keep historical façade. Keep walking school. Keep current site. K–8 at YG to strengthen the cultural & language supports & continuity. Edison – Seismic renovation or rebuild. Increase capacity on site. Built in 1925. Desperately need renovation. Make case for increasing student population (e.g. vs. univ. over building for students) Keep Edison kids safe. 1926 building needs renovation. Retain historic character to honor our past but build new behind to honor our future. Edison is a TRUE neighborhood school. It is the anchor that keeps it a neighborhood. Keep the historical and valuable part of our neighborhood. Edison’s architecture fits the feel of the neighborhood. Let’s keep it and make it better with the improvements necessary for a modern school.
