Design Goals

Separate the spaces by function.

Focus on the children’s area, all other spaces are support.

Create a comfortable atmosphere for the children to spend the day in.

Possible Ideas: Playful, Safe

Make use of the large windows to introduce daylighting to the space.

1.5 Watts per square foot allowed.

CCT 5000 to match daylight in space.

Design Solution

Separate the spaces.

Linear fluorescents in circulation spaces leading toward sub-spaces.

Atmosphere Ideas.

Suspend ceiling in children’s area for a more enclosed “safe”

space.

Create multi-level ceiling and add colored light for visual

interest.

Daylighting concerns

Use zoned switching to shut off lights near windows during

the daytime.

Accent wall spaces for company logo and decorative artwork.

Maintain a small number of unique luminaires within the complex space.

- 10-15 fc on floor throughout rest of space

Design Solution

Linear fluorescent’s directing customers down the stairs and into the space upon entering.

CFL downlights over each of the desk areas.

Spot lamps washing ceiling along 1’6” indent in lower section.

Linear wall-washers along wall in lower section and on the angled portion of the 2-story area.

CCT of 5000K to mimic daylight and make the lobby appear more spacious.
