A Daily Dose of Vitamin E!

Years ago a young man fell into a deep depression. Even though he was a lawyer and had

many good things in his life, his despair was serious enough that friends kept knives and ra-

zors away from him.

In the depths of his dejection, he wrote, “I am now the most miserable man living. If what

I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would not be one cheerful

face on the earth. Whether I shall ever be better I cannot tell; I awfully forebode I shall not.

To remain as I am is impossible; I must die or be better, it appears to me.”

He clearly needed help from others. We do not know who brought him out of his pit.

Whatever words or expressions of encouragement that came to his ear are unknown. In some

form, encouragement eventually brought him out of depression.

As a result, Abraham Lincoln went on to become one of our greatest presidents.

I cannot imagine a situation when a word of encouragement will do anything but help. No

matter what state of mind or painful experience a person is going through, edification can

provide healing like nothing else. Perhaps this is why God calls on us to encourage each oth-

er every single day. A familiar passage states, “But exhort one another daily, while it is

called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Hebrews

3:13).

We know the value of vitamins to our bodies. Our bodies need the proper balance of vita-

mins and minerals to function properly. These nutrients are needed regularly for our bodies

as they play a unique role in maintaining our health. It is no different for us spiritually. We

need the proper “spiritual vitamins” for our spiritual health and, in many ways, even our

physical health.

A daily dose of “Vitamin E” in the Lord’s church can increase our effectiveness exponen-

tially. Preachers, teachers, deacons, and elders wouldn’t become so burnt out. Teens, young

adults, and new Christians would be less likely to fall away. More people would be devel-

oped into tomorrows worship leaders, elders, deacons, and preachers. The spiritual potential

in our children could explode.

Who have we encouraged today?

- adapted by HG from article by Brett Petrillo, Denver, Colorado

It was AWESOME to be able to get back

to the church building Sunday morning for

an in-person worship service. I have missed

our congregational singing for sure and I

thought Mark did a great job leading us. I

appreciate the great lesson from Hoby on

Revival. I know it was a lesson that I really

needed! It was great to be able to talk to

everyone before and after service. I have

deeply missed that!

Our only youth activity for last week was

our ZOOM bible study on Wednesday night.

We began a new study over the parables of

Jesus. I look forward to our next bible

study this Wednesday night and I hope to

have it in person in the fellowship room. I

will have more information on the youth

events on Facebook later in the week. I am

hoping to be able to have more in person

activities in the next few weeks for our

youth of all ages. Again, please be on the

lookout for event updates on our youth

WE REJOICE… Madelyn Coates was baptized into Christ on 1/6/21. Let’s all encourage her and

keep her and her family in your prayers as she begins her new life in Christ.

In-Person Worship Service Information: We are meeting again on Sunday mornings at 10am for worship. We ask everyone to contin-

ue to take precautions such as distancing/wearing masks. Services will still be available

online on our FB and YouTube pages for those with underlying conditions or shut in at home. Please be praying that we can add additional

services (i.e. Bible classes) soon.

Keep ALL dealing with COVID in your prayers!
