Un Mensaje de Nuestro Pastor

Mis hermanos y hermanas en Cristo ¡Espero que todos permanezcan bien y en paz! Hay algunos de nosotros de una cierta edad o de ciertos lugares que tenemos una cicatriz circular en el brazo, un anillo formado por una vacuna que recibimos cuando eramos niños, para protegernos de la enfermedad. Recuerden cómo funcionan las vacunas: se inyecta un virus muerto o una can dad muy pequeña de uno vivo en nuestros cuerpos, por lo que nuestro sistema inmunitario aprende a reconocerlo y a defenderse de él la próxima vez que estemos expuestos a él. Eso también puede suceder con la fe. Las personas que no están conver das, que no enen un fuerte encuentro con el Señor y Su Iglesia, pueden fácilmente dejarse llevar, volverse complacientes o indiferentes y ser muy di ciles de devolver. A veces es porque fueron las mados. Muchas veces, fallo en mi búsqueda de "jus cia, devoción, fe, amor, paciencia y gen leza"; y las mo a los demás y por eso lo siento y les pido perdón. ¡Debemos, cada uno de nosotros, trabajar para hacer que nuestra comunidad sea más segura y más amorosa! Pero he visto que hay mucha gente que se alejan de Dios mientras persiguen las cosas buenas que Dios nos da. Así, nos reunimos como Cris anos cada Domingo para renovarnos en la fe, a través de "la noble confesión en presencia de muchos tes gos", y por el milagro del amor que nuestro Señor resucitado realiza cada vez, presentándose a nosotros en Palabra y Sacramento. Él nos ama y no fuerza nuestra sumisión. Aun cuando Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos, podemos fácilmente "dejar de ser persuadidos". Gracias a todos por cuidar a los pobres, los enfermos, los molestos y los perdidos, ayudándonos a todos a "compe r bien por la fe [y] aferrarse a la vida eterna, a la que fuimos llamados ". A Message from our Pastor

My brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope all stay well and at peace! Those of us who’re a certain age or come from certain places may have a circular scar on an upper arm, a ring formed by a vaccina on we got as a kid, to protect us from disease. Remember how vaccines work- either a dead virus or a very small amount of a live one is injected into our bodies, so our immune systems learn to recognize it and defend against it the next me we’re exposed to it. That can also happen with faith. People who aren’t converted- who don’t have a strong encounter with the Lord and His Church can easily dri away, become complacent or indifferent and be very hard to call back. Some mes it’s because they were hurt- I fail o en in my pursuit of “righteousness, devo on, faith, love, pa ence, and gentleness;” I hurt others and for that I’m sorry and do beg forgiveness. We must, each of us, work to make our community safer and more loving! But many people, I find, dri because they lose sight of God while chasing the good things God gives us. So, we gather as Chris ans each Sunday to be renewed in faith, through “the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses,” and by the miracle of love Our Risen Lord performs each

me, making Himself present to us in Word and Sacrament. He loves us and does not force our submission. Even though Christ has risen from the dead, we can very easily “fail to be persuaded.” Thank you, everyone, for caring for the poor, the sick, the annoying, and the lost, helping all of us to “compete well for the faith [and] lay hold of eternal life, to which we were called.” God bless y’all! -Fr Tom

St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) founded the Franciscan Order in 1209. Known for being the first to build a creche in 1223; known to be the first person to receive the visible stigmata in 1224; wrote the “Canticle of the Sun” in 1225 - praising the Creator of all of creation - well known for his love of animals and nature; died on October 3, 1226. The feast day of St. Francis of Assisi is celebrated on Oct. 4.

El 4 de octubre se celebra el dia de Fiesta de San Francisco de Asís .
